how do you know there working?

Dear Hyster Sisters:

Silly question but!!!!!! Had a TAH on 9/10/04 and kept my ovaries. I am 6 weeks post and finally can see the light at the end of the tunnel. But, my question is: How do you know your ovaries are working? Prior to TAH during ovulation I would get a discharge -- the last few days I am having a similar discharge exclusively known at one time in my life as "ovulation" I realize you still ovulate - but I am not sure of the dynamics now that everything else is gone, do you still ovulate once a month?. Any help? I go for my checkup on 11/1 and will also ask my DR. Thanks for all you are to me hystersisters!!!! Fondly, Donna

Not silly. I wish I had asked it. I'd like to know myself but same as you I had the discharge during ovulation. And then I'd have PMS. At one time in my life it was really horrible. I was mean as a snake one minute and a babbling idiot the next to a crying emotional mush. And that could all happen in the span of 5 minutes, haha. On top of that the pre cramps were as bad as early labor and my breasts would swell and be so tender it hurt if the wind blew on them.

I started tracking my cycle methodically and was able to deal with the PMS accordingly. At some point the breast tenderness lessoned so significantly that I rarely noticed it. To my utter dissapointment, the breast tenderness resumed, right on target to my cycle after surgery.

I think I can handle the breast tenderness. As long as I don't bleed for 2 weeks

I'll assume mine are working

Dear rebosmi:

Thanks for the info. I didn't think to track prior to TAH - I am going tp get the calendar out and see if that is happening to me. I bet you are so right!! Thanks so much for the help and as long as we are "Bloodless" we are doing fine. Can deal with tender breasts also. Donna
