REMOVAL OF OVARIES AFTER TAH ON 10/2

Happy New Year Hystersisters!!!

I hope my new year will be better that the past but I cannot be sure. I went to the doctors yesterday because I am still experiencing severe pain in my right side (all the time) and in my left side (sometime). He said that he is pretty sure that I need to have my ovaries removed!!!!!
I was suppose to have them removed with my first surgery due to severe endometriosis. But when I woke up from surgery my doctor very proudly stated he left them in!!!
I cannot tell you how upset I am about these events. I don't want another surgery. I also do not want to live with the constant pain ,sometime its so severe it will cut through me like a knife!!!
Has anyone else experienced the same thing??? Thank you for this wonderful web site it has been my salvation!!!

REMOVAL OF OVARIES AFTER TAH ON 10/2

Hi Sheila
I am experiencing a similar situation. I had my LAVH just over 10 weeks ago, and the doc "saved" my right ovary. Well here I sit having had two cysts already on my remaining ovary and facing going in to have it removed. I too do not want to return to the Castle. I had two surgeries within two weeks, (exploratory and then the Hysterectomy) and really thought the trouble was over. No such luck. Although I think the doctor really thought that giving it a shot was better than taking it and never knowing if she removed a healthy organ or not. At least we tried. I just tired of the pain and drugs. I asked my dh yesterday, "I wonder what I would feel like without any drugs!" Take it easy and know that you are definitely not alone.

Give yourself some time!

I had a TAH/BSO and still have that same pain. Mostly on the right side, and often on the left also, and I have NO ovaries to remove, would gladly have them out if I did. I have had poly cystic ovarian syndrome all of my life, (guess that is cured now!) and so have always suffered when I ovulated, because each and every time it meant a cyst that was very painful. What I feel now is exactly like that, but can't be the same thing because the cancerous ovaries are gone!

My doctor thinks I may have some adhesions forming, and that is causing the pain. What do you do about that? Go in and remove them, and they just come back? Live with it and learn to ignore the pain? Take narcotics for the rest of your life? Hard to say! I don't know what to do, the doc is offering no real suggestions, and I have decided drugs are not the way to go. I carry around a sock full of rice, and microwave it and put it on my tummy wherever I happen to be to get me through the worst of the pain. I don't know what else to do.

Is there anything wrong with your ovaries? Ask for an ultrasound or CT scan to see what is going on inside before having another surgery. You may be just borrowing more trouble and getting no real relief. Not to mention that surgical menapause can be VERY uncomfortable, and finding the RIGHT kind and dose of hormones can be a long uncomfortable process. (I have suffered breakthrough hot flashes, yellow splotches on my skin, mood swings, unconsolable weeping, and a miriad of other problems!)

BTW, did the doc say why he left them in?
