shoulder?

It's probably gas. For some reason, gas pain can register up in your shoulder area, I'm told. Try Gas-X.

shoulder?

Mine did, too. It was gas pain and gas-x really helped. The gas pain was just about the worst part of post op recovery. Also remember that your body probably isn't used to lying around all day. It can make your joints stiff and make you feel nauseous. If it is ok with your dr, short (and I mean short) walks post-op can really help. Check this out with your dr and take care of yourself!

my shoulder too

Rodney,
Had surgery 10/21 and had the same problem for 2 days. The shoulder pain was more irritating than anything because no position relieved it. It finally went away on its own. Still don't know the reason. Must admit, the buns are very sore from sitting around all day

shoulder?

Hi Ladies;
First of all I wanted to mention never to take anything that your doctor has not approved for you to take!
While yes it is true that the pain from gas can be higher up you need to be sure instead of just taking things because it "might" be gas.
If you feel it's gas pain call your doctor and get the okay to take something!
It might also be from positioning during surgery. They have to tilt your head back to place the tube in your throat.
I hope you feel better soon!

Take care and rest!

shoulder?

It's most likely gas. So much gas & air gets trapped in your body during the procedure. It usually shows up on the 2nd day post-op. It does go away. Most people walk {carefully} or take Gas-X or a combo of the two. I had it too this past week, but it has since went away.
Feel Better.

shoulder?

Sorry, but Gas-X won't work for air trapped in the body cavity after surgery. Gas-X is simethicone and that works only on air trapped in the digestive tract, not elsewhere. Everyone always says "oh, gas, take Gas-X", but it just doesn't work.

I found that moving around was the best way to get that air dispersed after my surgery. It was the most painful part of my recovery, but it resolves itself all on its own and no amount of Gas-X will help.

shoulder pain

Now that I've had time to read the other messages and think about, what was told to me was that exhaling helps to release the gases after surgery. I do remember the nurses in recovery, doing my foggy period, constantly telling to take deep breathes and exhale to get the gas out of my system. And I did get some sort of pump in my room that was I had to EXHALE into to raise the ball. I remember the nurse saying the same thing again, to get rid of gases in the body. I was told to use the pump at least 10 times a day.
Keep in mind ladies, when we come out of surgery we are told things and talk to people that we may not recall until a week later when the haze clears.
