Cold flashes?!

My SAH was in July, and my incision has healed up very nicely. Still having some bladder pain but I think it's getting better (I'm on Detrol LA).

Now my question is about flashes: not hot flashes, cold flashes! I had lots of hot flashes after my surgery, but I don't seem to be having them anymore. I used Black Cohosh and made cakes out of soy flour and flaxseed. I'm off the Black Cohosh now.

Yesterday I had what I can only describe as a cold flash. I felt chilled, as though I'd taken a dip in an icy lake. I also felt very lightheaded; I had to shut my office door and lie down on the floor for about twenty minutes.

The first time I had one of those was when I tried the Climara patch. I took it off at the midwife's suggestion, and felt better. I've had one other in my office recently. They may be related to migraine; I sometimes get migraine auras without necessarily getting the headache. I also had a bad pain in my upper back with this one. I think it may be related to anxiety, because my heart was kind of racing too.

Anybody else experience anything like this?

Cold flashes?!

I'm only three weeks out but I have had the exact same thing since day one after the operation. Sometimes I get so cold I get into the tub or shower just to get the bone chill out of me. But, then lately too, I've gotten equally but less intesne hot flashes. With the two of them, I really understand the term "shake and bake"!

Cold flashes?!

Same thing here, although I am getting hot too. I took my temp during one of these and it was 99. When I am cold...my teeth chatter. to be fair this has happened to me b4 my hysto, but never in combo w/ the heat (hot flashes?).

Cold flashes?!

I am glad to know that I am not alone. Boy does it feel like my internal thermostat has gone crazy. Once I heat up I have a hard time cooling down. But sometimes I will be sitting in my chair and will all of the sudden be FREEZING. I have to get up and put a on sweater then before you know it I am hot in the face (hot flash) but still cold in my bones. Who knows what to do!!

I am taking Estratest so I am unsure as to whether it a estrogen or testosterone issue. I have only been on it for the two and a half weeks since my surgery so I am trying to give it a little more time. I don't go back to my doctor until the 7th of December. Maybe by then my body will be more adjusted to everything.

If anybody else is experience this lovely happening I would love to hear from you. How long does it last? Or is it just something to get use to.

Cold flashes?!

I get those chills too. I usually drink a cup of tea to get myself warm.
Someone broke my internal thermostat!!!

I was having bad night sweats, so the other night I put on a summer nightgown. But then I went to bed and was so cold that I changed. I put on a tshirt, cotton pants and a long sleeve cotton shirt. Well I woke during the night, drenched in sweat!!!

Aaaaah the joys of menopause!!!!
