I feel so lost and emotional, can someone help?!

I had a TAH/BSO on 11-29 due to endometrosis. I have been taking progestrone cream daily and testostrone cream 2 times a week. I felt okay until this week which is week four. Christmas overwhelmed me, I was glad when it was over. I feel like I'm in some kind of a blue funk. I'm moody and I go off on everyone for nothing at all. My DH has been so understanding, but I know that at times I have to be getting to him. My night sweats are getting worse. I had three last night, and I just about ripped my clothes off. I see my surgeon on 1-2-01, but I had to find a new gyne, which I will see for help for HRT on 1-24-01. My last gyne was useless and made too many mistakes when it came to my health that I got out. I knew I would experience some changes after the surgery, but right now I am completely overwhelmed. I've read some books, but most seem to chastise those of us that had our ovaries removed, like I had a choice with the endo and all. I can't have estrogen right now, so what do I do in the mean time. Is anyone else going through this right now? I don't like the moodyness and depression. I've heard that antidepressants can cause weight gain which is the last thing I need right now. Help if you can!!

Mary,
You are hitting the proverbial ''wall''. I had my TAH/ BSO on 12-8-99. I did the exact same thing as I was unable to take estrogen due to Endo. Perhaps getting some ''phyto'' estrogens....would help. Try drinking some soy milk. The brand "Silk" comes in Chocolate and vanilla. Try mixing it half and half. Maybe that would help alleviate some of your symptoms.
Please don't try to reason this too much...you will drive yourself crazy. It is strictly the hormones...they will be able to start you on estrogen in a few wks..it will make a big difference. I've been where you are...and it is awful. I never realized how much my *** was connected to my head! HA! Just know that it will get better...just take one day at a time.
Hugs...hang in there.

that whole judging thing is screwy, yes?

I felt the same way when trying to make my decision and after. Seems everyone is VERY free with the advice AFTER the fact, yes? <smile> I know what you're going thru. Read Depression and Adrite's Awful Adventure from the archives above.

R U absolutely sure you cannot take hormones? Perhaps you just haven't hit the right level yet? Only suggestions mind you. I had a hyst due to endo last nov. It sucked (as you can read for yourself). The nhrt helps a good deal, the anti-depressants kept me from going after evil doctors with a pitch fork (smile)...but did little to ease my depression. Everyone is different. Feel free to email me when you want to talk...it WILL get better. My favorite thing to do is eat lots of chocolate and watch the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes". Does nothing for me, but helps me to realize my hormonal potential (smile).

I'm all for castrating every doctor in the county...would raise empathy for us, and keep them busy so as not to tourment us anymore with wild ideas that we are "just fine" without hormones and that a hyst does not "impair or affect a woman in the least" or "endometriosis is not a painful condition". <half kidding about the snorflation of course>.

Good luck and Godspeed.
