LAVH Recovery Time

I am asking for a week off. Should that be long enough? I work at home as a medical transcriptionist and sit all day.

LAVH Recovery Time

I work on a computer all day myself, and didn't go back until week three. Then it was only four hours per day (one day I only made it three hours). My stomach did not like being in the sitting position (bent over) and walking was incredibly hard when I hurt. By week four, I was up to 5 - 7 hours, and on week five, was able to work 8 hours per day. Now week six and actually feeling really well.

I know the second week I was out running around in the car and doing errands, but I would get very tired and sore after just a short time. Take it easy and listen to your body. Since you work from home, you can always go lay down if you get too sore.

LAVH Recovery Time

I just went back to work Nov 1st after having an LAVH on Sept 21st. I was told the recovery time was 3-6 weeks. At 3 weeks I decided that I would take the whole 6 weeks. I work in reservations 3 nights a week/8 hours a night. This week I feel pretty tired and my bottom was sore the first couple of nights from sitting for long periods and my lower back. Tylenol alleviated it somewhat. I was told I could drive at 1 week but I waited to 2 weeks because I was taking Vicodin til the 2nd week. Everyone is different though, and it will probably be good that you work at home and you will be able to rest. I still hurt walking for short distances in the store during the first week to two weeks and around the 3 1/2 weeks was when I turned the corner from feeling achy all the time. Now I just feel a little sore at the end of the night if I've had a busy day. Hope you have a smooth recovery. Good luck.

LAVH Recovery Time

When I had my LAVH I was told the initial recovery period was 6 weeks. My doctor said that although the external incisions are smaller there is still plenty of internal work done. The stitches usually don't begin to dissolve until 2-4 weeks post-op. At 1 week post-op there is no way I would have returned to work. I think it would be best if you took enough time off so your body can completely recover. I don't think you would want to sit all day. You get one chance to have a good recovery - don't do anything to increase your risk of developing serious complications.

God luck with your surgery!

I worked at home the Saturday after surgery, Surgery was a Tuesday. I bought a back pillow and I have a lap top so I worked right from bed, two to three hours at a time. I went back to work at two weeks, 3-6 hours and now at 4 weeks full time 10-11 hr days. Everyone is different so you have to go with what your body tells you.
Take care,
Jeanette

LAVH Recovery Time

When I had my LAVH/BSO I returned to my part-time job 18 days post-op. Sitting was still really hard for a long time up to 6 weeks post-op. Just listen to your body and do what feels right to you. You have to remember that even though you don't look bad on the outside there's trauma on the inside. Give yourself the time to heal b/c you can only do this once.

Good luck!!!
