normal "pain" expectations. What can I expect

I had a TVH on 10-12 and I just passed my three week mark. I still get some cramping and a pulling feeling a little bit each day. I am trying to do what the Doctor says but somedays I can tell when I've done too much. The pain is so little that I just take some advil and it goes away. I am feeling great. I still try to take a little nap each day or at least rest a couple of times a day. You WILL feel stronger each day. I go back to work the end of the month and I think I will be fine and ready. Good luck and just listen to your body. God Bless

normal "pain" expectations. What can I expect

I am three weeks post op. The first week, I saw dramatic improvement in ability to move around, and pain each day. The second week, it was not as dramatic, but still noticable. The third week, its slowed down, but I am feeling slowly, but surely more and more normal. The last four or five days, I have not remembered to take pain meds every four hours, because I have not needed them. I have dropped back to once or twice a day, usually in the morning and right before bed. I feel up to doing little things, like throwing ingredients in the crockpot for dinner, but not much else. I do try to walk some every day, or at least every other day. I think in another week, I am going to be feeling really great. Its an individual thing tho....some sisters are up and about and feeling great in a few days, others take longer. I guess it depends on how well your body heals. Hope you are one who heals quickly!

Hi,

I had a TAH two years ago. Check out my journal for a week-by-week description of my recovery. The link is to the left below my avatar.

I just hit the 5 week post-op milestone, and let me tell you, I almost feel normal again! The 4th week was a major turning point for me...I could go to the grocery store without leaning on the cart! After the first two weeks, I definitely improved daily, but the 4th week was a noticeable change. Hang in there, and enjoy being spoiled for a while. Once you start doing things around the house again, that's IT for the help! Good luck!!!

Sharon
