Pre op today--need some advice

Hi! Just wanted to see if anyone could help me out with this. I'm going for my first pre-op today. The way it works is that you only go to the hospital for your preop and don't meet with your surgeon, so I decided to make an appointment with him to talk in detail about everything, but there's so much running through my head right now....so I wanted to ask if anyone could tell me what I should ask. Unfortunately, my dbf or my parents can't come with me because they all work, so I won't have a secondary person to help me remember what to ask. My appt is at 3:30 pm today, and i'll be checking the board until then, if you could please respond. Thanks!
By the way, since I gave you no background, I'm having a total abdominal hyst, removal of EVERYTHING, incl. ovaries and cervix and possible bowel resection because of endometriosis and cerv. cancer.

Pre op today--need some advice

S

Click here to go to a list of questions. To find it without the link, click on either the drop down menu at the top right, or on <Hysterectomy Info> at the top left. After you've clicked on either, then choose <PreOp> The questions are #21.

There are a lot of other discussions there that are helpful when you're pre op.

Make sure you write down the questions you want to ask (or print them out). Leave space to write down the answers. If you have a small tape recorder, you may want to take it with you, but be sure to get your DR's ok to record the conversation.

Hope this helps!

Best wishes.

Pre op today--need some advice

Hi, I'm going for my pre-op tomorrow so I don't have alot of advice but I'm reading as many messages here as I can so I get some ideas what to ask. My advice is to write your questions down! That's what I'm going to do! And then take notes when you get answers. Or even take a tape recorder and tape the conversation with your doctor. Good luck! I hope everything turns out good for you!
