skin problems- anyone else?

I dont know if this is at all related to my hyst.
But my skin in driving me nuts. Its only on my face and neck.
It started out with my face being really red with burning and itching. It was really uncomfortable. I went to the Dr for something else and asked about it. ( this was just a dr at a local clinic, not my usual dr).
He said it was probably due to hormones and to give them a chance to even out.
Anyway that eventually improved although its still a bit itchy
Now my eyes are really swollen and itchy and sore. There isnt much I can cause the skin around eyes is so sensitive. It is driving me insane.
My neck is also itchy. Sounds really dumb, but I dont know what to do.
Its really embarassing cause Im back to work and my eyes look like ive been crying for a week.
I am on the estrogen patch, but am having no hotflashes or anything else.
Just curious if anyone else had anything similiar or any advice.

Thanks Linda

skin problems- anyone else?

Hi Linda,
To me that sounds like an allergy!! Get checked out and see if you need to change your patch to something else! I would not be waiting around to see if it gets worse!! I had a pretty severe reaction to Wellbutrin and my hubby watched me go slightly blue and he said he was taking me to ER. I thought he was nuts, that the semi on my chest would eventually drive away. When I got home from that little funfest, I itched so bad, everywhere on my chest, my neck, my face, me inner ears!, everywhere....

Hugs
Kat

Have you ever had your thyroid tested? I had itchy, puffy, red eyes for quite awhile before my doctor diagnosed me with a hypothyroid condition.

I too would be concerned about allergy. Did your symptoms start after you started the patch. You could be allergic to something in the patch other than the medication also.

I also had allergic reactions to medications. Mine were antibiotic related. It started out as scratching when I was asleep in the hospital and got worse. I have had it for all 4 weeks, and it is finally clearing up with a creme.

I was given benedryl in the hospital for the itching, and use benedryl creme during the day, and take pills at night.

Each patch of hormones has different additives, and adhesives. You could very well be allergic to one of the ingredients. Is it worse day one or when the patch starts to come off. Maybe taking notes of the signs might help you figure this out.

Hope you fine out the cause.

skin problems- anyone else?

I've had psoriasis and ezcema (sp?) since my teen years, and have used many different medications and skin care regimes to no avail. Unfortunately, since my hyst, my skin problems have only gotten worse. I am not taking hormones, and I am also not taking any new medications. I saw my allergist yesterday, and now I have a steroid ointment to put on the worst rashy areas. Hopefully this will clear things up before long. I wake up scratching my skin until it bleeds, if I'm fortunate enough to sleep with all the itching. I, too, would welcome any insights that the doctors don't seem to have. My gync/surgeon had no clues when I saw her last week. Thanks for your input. Carol
