Help With Ca125 ???

I'm a little bummed.......all throughout my chemo my CA125 has dropped dramatically....just got my results back from my fifth chemo and my CA125 was 9.2. My CA125 after my 4th chemo was 8.4.

I know both numbers are in the normal range, but I was disappointed that the 9.2 wasn't lower.

Any words of advice???? Am I just being paranoid ???????

Paranoid

Remember that CA125 is not an absolute marker--the same blood out of the same tube tested twice can give two results. Mine went down to 8. something during my first go-round and came up to 14.6 and I was fine for 9 months. We do focus too much on the number but I can't see how that can be helped. YOU ARE FINE. I AM JEALOUS. IF I HAD 9.2 I'D BE JUMPING ALL OVER.

Help With Ca125 ???

Hi Lori,

Do not panic. As a veteran ca125 watcher and worrier, I have learned over the years, and have been told many many times that there can be a 4 point margin of error depending on who reads the results, the time of day the blood is taken, and lots of other varibles.

I totally understand your concern but I really and truly do not believe that there is need for concern.

Those are wonderful numbers!!

Help With Ca125 ???

Lori,

I feel your pain. I was pretty bummed when my last ca-125 went from 3.3 to 3.9. instead of dropping down into the 2's.
It's silly, I know, but I suppose it might be human nature.
Remember, As long as it 's w/in range, we're ok. We have to keep believing that!

Having said that, tomarrow I go for my first ca-125 since my last treatment. (yahoo....if I was still under treatment, it would've been a treatment day!!) Having gone from 3.3 to 3.9 makes me wonder if it's going to be higher this time. Again, probably silly,I know. But I guess these are the worries I'll have to deal with now that I'm done treatment.

Relax, and try to enjoy those great numbers, ok?

Help With Ca125 ???

Dear Lori, since the normal range is between 0-35, I think you are doing very well. Of course is it very understandable to want it to go down rather than up but your rise is not even up 1 point and can't see that being significant. Hope you can relax soon.

Help With Ca125 ???

Oh Basketnut,

Be VERY proud of your 3.9! It sounds good to me, way below 35!!! It is a very hard earned small number. I think it is human nature to want it to keep getting smaller - down into the negative numbers would be even better LOL. You are a very strong lady to have come this far, and I am sure that 3.2 to 3.9 is nothing. Take care, Judy
