Question re:post-op check-up

I'm going for my first post-op check-up tomorrow.
Do they usually do an internal exam at these?
I CAN"T BEAR TO EVEN THINK ABOUT that happening.
The way I'm feelng right now is that NO ONE is going anywhere near that part of my body ever again!
I might just be streaking right out of there with my pants down .....I'm scared.

Question re:post-op check-up

Hi Sandy,
How are you?? I hope you are doing well. I never had an internal exam at any of my post op checks. Maybe I should have but I am glad I did not.... I did have a rectal one which was bad enough. And enough for a lifetime! But hopefully you wont have that....

Take care and good luck tomorrow....

Question re:post-op check-up

Hi. I know exactly what you mean! At my one week checkup my doctor gave me an internal exam and I was scared to death.. I really didn't want anyone near there. It actually wasn't terrible. It was quick and I had piece of mind when it was over, knowing that he had seen that everything was healing fine. Hang in there.

re-post-op check up

Hi,
I just went for my 2 week today and not vaginal exam nor a rectal I guess it all depends on our DR's!

Question re:post-op check-up

My doctor was not going to check me at my two week exam, but I was having some weird pressure so she went ahead and checked me. It did not hurt at all and I also had anterior repair. I wouldn't think your doctor will check you unless you are having some kind of problem.

those pesky exams

I had an internal exam at 4 weeks post op and he had to do some silver nitrate treatment on the tissue on the rectocele repair because it pulling onto itself. Then again at 7 weeks post op.

And I just had another one today because of itching so the doc could do a culture in there. And it was a different ob/gyn than did the surgery, and he wanted to check everything out. He told me I had excellent repairs and everything looked really good. I think he wanted to compare what I had done with how he would have done it!

So we women do what we can-just take a deep breath-let it out and think of being on a white sand beach somewhere with a giant pina colada next to you!

I actually took a pain pill before my 1st post op appt to try and relax. Consider that too.

Best of luck tomorrow! 's to you!

Question re:post-op check-up

Hey, Sandy!

I had an internal exam at 2 weeks and at 6 weeks. But...I didn't have all those nasty internal stitches you have. With my LSH I actually only had 2 stitches on my cervix. The incisions on my abdomen were glued shut. So, it may depend on the doc *and* on the kind of surgery you had.

Good luck tomorrow!
