burning pain but not uti???

Dear Sisters,
I am having some pain off and on which feels similar to uti burning but my uti test comes back negative and I sometimes have very light red urine. Maybe I do have an urine infection but it doesn't show up on the test. Does this sound familiar to anyone out there?? I am in Ghana at the present and wonder what is going on. Appreciate your thoughts. I had a total hyster. on Sept. 8, '04'

I had the same problem, except I was also having severe back pain, so I thought for sure that I had a kidney infection. Went to the ER. Everything was negative. They told me that the burning and irritation were probably related to the catheter and that the low back pain was probably from the position that they had me in while in surgery, evidently it is a pretty strange position.
