What kind of bag are you taking to the hospital?

All of my fabic totes and zippered-type bags are going to be too small for my robe and slippers, but I don't want to take a big 'ol suitcase. What kind of bag should I use?

Hi,

I haven't gone in yet, but I was thinking I'll probably be taking some sort of big duffle bag made of nylon (I think). You know the kind of bag that you can take on an airplane - carryon bag.

Good luck, Hope that helps.

Hi,

I took a small pilot's case with wheels that I picked up at Wal-Mart for $10. It held everything I needed for the three nights that I was in the hospital, and I still use it when I take short trips. It was great, since it rolled and I didn't have to carry it.

I thought I'd just use a large red shopping bag with handles. It will match my large red folder of information......and will all burn nicely in the fireplace during my "Yeah It's Over" celebration!

I just picked up one for 15 bucks at walmart. I wanted something I would use again. It is made of vinyl, its pink and black and its made by danskins, its a perfect size and very fashionable it looks like a monogram bag. they had larger ones in silver/black and bugundy/black. they also had some very cute pajama bottoms for 9.99 with a pull string, great for the tummy.

I took a tote that is about 18W x 14H x 6D. I took a silk robe, silk jammies, some slippers, and 2 pair of clean panties. I figured I would wear home the clothes I wore in (cropped sweats that sit at the waist, a tank top, and a sweater - they weren't dirty cuz I'd only worn them for an hour or so before I checked in).

This worked well because the day of my surg, I was in the hosp gown. I couldn't have cared less about changing, cuz I was enjoying my morphine. I put on my silk jammies after I showed the next day.

I also took a small bag of toiletries (travel size stuff), lip balm, hand cream (they gave me some there though, that I liked), etc.

And I was very ambitious! I took 3 books, 4 magazines, a notepad. I perused the mags and left them for the nurses and other patients. I didn't read one word in the books, but I did write a bit.

I took a bag this size so I could sit it on the counter by the window. I knew I wasn't going to be bending down to get into any bag.

And don't you dare think about carrying it home! You'll be a Princess then, and your DH will carry your bag.

I hope this helps.

I am going to take a medium size nylon duffel bag. It will be enough to hold a couple pairs of p.j.s, a robe, slippers, undies, etc. ALSO, I am going to bring a cosmetic type bag that I can keep on my table by my bed. You will be sore and won't want to get out of bed numerous times a day to get to your "main" bag to get your "little incidentals" (i.e. lotion, lip balm, breath mints, etc.) and if you have a small bag close by, you can easily retrieve these items. I figured that out after my last surgery with a hospital stay.

God bless.
