Desperate!

It's been nearly a year since my total hysterectomy and I can't seem to find my "happy place". I have tried several medications and dosages. My doctor doesn't seem to think that taking blood work is necessary! My weight is out of control and I feel so totally overwhelmed.

I want to make an appointment with someone who can get me on the right track but I don't want to go back to my gyno. What other types of doctors would help in this situation.

HI

I'm sorry to hear you are still searching for your "happy place"

I would suggest trying to locate a compounding pharmacy and then ask the pharmacist which doctors he uses that prescribe women's hormones. You can find a compounding pharmacist in your area at this locator.
www.iacprx.org

I have had my blood work tested in the past to find my hormone levels, but sometimes it is not always beneficial. The range of normal on the test vary so wide that alot of women test come back in the normal range, even when they don't feel so normal. Hopefully your doctor can prescribe HRT going from your symptoms first.

That is how I found my doctor and so have many other women.
I do hope you find you happy place soon

You could try and locate a compounding pharmacy near you, many times the pharmacist may know of some doctors who are knowledgeable about women and hormones. This site www.iacprx.org has a pharmacy locator.

Also, it's not necessarily what *type* of doc it is, but the knowledge that the doctor has. For example, I found that my gyn isn't knowledgeable about hormones, just like yours. However, other women may find that their gyns take an interest.

If you have a gp, you could try talking with him/her.
