Ovarian pain post (4 years post)

Hello Ladies! I just know this is the place to get some info. Since my LAVH over 4 years ago, life's been good. Recently, in the past couple - 4 months or so - I've been having pain w/intercourse, just a sore ovary after...Last month, I had what was thought to be appendicities, but was ruptured ovarian cyst. Odd thing was my ovary wasn't painful during examination, go figure. Since, I have pain of left ovary, I do have a cyst again, depends on who I talk to of the two doctors in the practice how large it is. I'm going w/small side because the doctors who examined my ovary didn't seem impressed or even noting it's state. The doctor who was reading a report from ultrasound claimed "I have a large cyst, 2 cm" I questioned him, and he said i'm reading it, it's in my hand...I don't kow him, never seen him, so I am inclined to trust the two I've seen...

So, my questions...I'm on BC, first month, almost done, I'm in pain again. I did have a couple days of pain free days. Advil really isn't helping at all. (Maybe I've built up a tolerance from my pre-hyst days) I can handle it most of the time w/o a problem. Does anyone know if it should be feeling better by now? Does it really take the three months? Any helpful hints? My doctor did say that adhesions, or scar tissue could be limiting the room for even a little cyst to develop and cause pain where normally there wouldn't be. Has anyone heard of cleaning up the adhesions and scar tissue to bring some relief, if that is the case? I can't sit upright, for long, it feels like the ovary gets pinched or something, I feel it, even sitting and driving. I squatted down to do something at floor level, when it had been feeling good and it flared right up since...???

So, does this ring any bells for anyone? Hoping w/all the esrources here, someone will know something, orpoint me on a path. Thanks, Kimberly

Hi Kim,

I am sorry you are having pain and problems now with your ovaries.

Have you looked at our Resources library at the top of the page? If you type in ovarian cysts in the search box there is some information that comes up for this .

I would give the treatment the dr gave you a chance to work and then if it doesn't be sure to let him know how you are doing.

Try to read and research as much as you can. Have you had an ultrasound to see what the ovaries look like?

I am sending s your way.

Kimberly,
I'm sorry to hear that you're having pain issues. I do agree with Suzy in that you should give the treatment some time to work. Using birth control pills to shrink cysts is fairly common. I remember my doctor prescribing them numerous times when I had problems with cysts.

While it's possible that your pain could come from adhesions/scar tissue, surgery isn't necessarily the answer when it comes to dealing with adhesions/scar tissue. More surgery=more adhesions/scar tissue. Most everyone has adhesions, it's where they develop that can be the problem. As your problem just started, it may not be adhesions. Here's a link to the Resources section on this topic Adhesion Resources
