emotional wreck
hi all....my Dr. done a diagnostic laproscopy on Oct. 28 to discover that I have (what he calls) pelvic hemoroids. He gave me pain meds (Motrin). I've been taking meds like that for years. I went to see him again on Nov. 11. He said then that he thinks I have adenomyosis. He said there was no in-between for me, either pills (which I am sick of popping) or surgery. I opted for the surgery, which is Dec. 3. Since then, I have been an emotional wreck. Thanks to the first surgery, I didn't start my period when I should have. I haven't had a period since Oct. 7. I'm cramping something awful, but nothing. I break down and cry at the drop of a hat. My temper is short with everyone. I'm not really sure what to expect after the surgery (my pre-op is Nov. 23).
I keep wondering exactly what I will/will not be able to do when I get home.
I'm sure I'm just rambling, but thanks for listening.

emotional wreck
Hi Sy-Reen,
I feel the same cry at the drop of a hat etc...Its hard to try not to think of the surgery and act "normal" when we are in pain and dealing with everything else that comes along with this. Maybe your doctor can give you something to calm the nerves like mine did, its helping me a bit. I am not sure how you will be feeling after the surgery because we all heal and feel so different, but I remember from my experience that the first couple weeks I was not able to do much except rest and very short walks around the house. I hope everything goes well for you and remember crying is not bad....I hate that I cry so much but really it is such a stress relief ~ best of wishes TC

Can I ask the specifics on the surgery you had? Was it just laparoscopic? I ask because I had a cone biopsy a couple of years ago and ended up scarring shut - so I had excrutiating cramping, but nothing came out, it all just built up inside. Finally, I got a doctor that listened to me, and she did and ultrasound and determined that I needed a hysterectomy. I'm two weeks post-op now and I already think it's the best thing I ever did. Like I told my husband a few hours after I came out of surgery, "I've had cramps that hurt worse than this!"

emotional wreck
My surgery (12/03) is going to be a TAH. My DH wants me to ask the doctor during the pre-op (11/23) why he's not doing the surgery laproscopy. I've read that the TAH has the longest healing time (usually 6-8 weeks), but my doctor told me that I could go back to work (I'm a secretary) in as little as 2 weeks, but he recommended 3-4 weeks. I decided to do the surgery at the beginning of Dec. (we get the last 2 weeks off work anyway) so I could go back to work the first of Jan. Now I'm beginning to wonder if I'll make it back by the end of Jan.
:confuse: I don't know what to think now.

emotional wreck
Hi Trina,
I can relate to your post, pre op I went quite a few months without a period and my emotions were all over the place, which was even more frustrating as for many years I had bouts of bleeding for a couple of months solid . In my case the ovaries weren't functioning and had to be removed as they were too badly damaged , Dr actually thought they wouldn't be viable if left anyway. I'm pleased to say for "me" this has been the best thing physically I recovered well and emotionally ( I'm on HRT only 38) I feel so level and believe me this has been really tested this last two weeks with alot going on with my family.I cope so much better with stress ,not teary as I was before and I've thrown myself back into exercise and trying to lose more weight ( I lost 15kgs before) must say I was concerned about weight gain but have lost a further 3 kgs since . My story has been a good one and remember everyone is different ,recoverystime vary greatly , but being positive and taking good care of yourself "not overdoing" doesn't hurt. Personally I couldn't have gone back after 2 weeks but I'm on my feet and bending quite a bit with my job so stayed off work till 6 1/2 weeks.Thats not to say you might be able to do your job sooner or maybe go back on reduced hours?? I wish you all the best with your surgery and pray you have a good and speedy recovery.
