Granny's Chocolate Cake

GRANNY'S CHOCOLATE CAKE

Bring to a boil:
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
4 heaping tablespoons cocoa
Remove from heat.

In large mixing bowl combine:
1 cup margarine, softened
2 eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup milk or sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla

Add:
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
Beat well.

Add the cooled cocoa mixture.
Beat well. Batter will be thin.

Pour into a greased 9x13 pan. Bake in 350 oven for approximately 30 minutes. Inserted toothpick will come out clean when cake is done.
Ice when hot with:

Bring to a boil:
1 1/2 cup brown (golden) sugar
1/4 cup margarine
1/4 milk or cream

Add:
1 1/2 cups icing sugar
Beat well.

Cake freezes very well; even when iced.
