On 11/4/04 shortly after a successful tvh, I was in my room for only minutes when my blood pressure dropped to almost nothing. A second surgery soon followed with 3 inscisions in my belly - I was told later that about a litre of blood had leaked into my belly, and I needed 4 units. The bleeding stopped as soon as they opened me up - they never did find where the bleeder was.
Anyway, my question is... has anoyone else had this experience, and was your recovery longer and more painful ? I am at 3 and 1/2 weeks and feeling a lot of pain of which my doctor says is because the blood in my belly is acting as an irritant and causing a lot more pain. Can anyone offer any advise?
That is true about all that blood in your abdomen acting as an irritant. I am so sorry you had to go through that, sounds very scary. But see you have had abdominal surgery AND a TVH all in one day, that has got to make ya hurt. I would expect your recovery to be a little slower than if you had just had the TVH.
I hope you start feeling better soon. Take care and let us know how you are doing.
I also had a bleeder. I had surgery 10-29 and I thought everything was going great. Early the next morning, the doctor noticed my color was very gray and within an hour, I was back in surgery. They found two bleeders. One the size of a tennis ball the other the size of a softball. I spent the next 3 days in ICU. From the blood transfusions, I developed a blood clot on my left arm.
According to the blood doctor, my counts are finally going up and I'm getting stronger. However, the ICU nurse told me that opening me up again and the loss of blood I should add another week to my recovery time. I feel like the rest of the sisters, some days are good and other days I feel tired.
I'm sorry you've had such a rough time. Rest and eating right will help.
