Well, I can still see the moon out this morning, makes you think you are up in the middle of the night, lol. (well it still is for you lot over the pond, haha!)
Good Morning!
My dinner was absolutely yummy. I slightly overcooked the beef, but DH trimmed the hard edges off before he carved it up, and there were no complaints from Billy
I also had roast parsnip, and a couple of stuffing balls that I found lurking in the back of the freezer. I only had 2 small roasties, and a big pile of veggies, so I did really well, and that kept me going all day long, except for a scone and a coffee that DH and I shared around 8.30pm, before he travelled back to London.
The pans and washing up were all washed up straightaway (the downside to not going out for lunch) and I was lazy and sprayed the oven with 24hr oven cleaner, which I am going to tackle tonight when DDs in brownies.
DH (gadgetman) bought a battery operated shoe polisher on his travels this weekend, and me and the DDs all have beautifully polished shoes today, for school and work. That is one gadget that I don't mind suffering
Well, gotta go, kettles boiled, and I am more than ready for it, hope you all have a good day!

 Morning all!
Fran, sounds like yesterday was a goodie. A shoe polisher, cool!
Val, so glad you & dh had a wonderful vacation together! And if you stayed OP foodwise in New Orleans, well then you deserved a nip or two! Welcome home.
This morning I'll hit the gym after the school drop off. Then it's home to face the madness in the fridge, give it a good cleaning, and perform other equally glamourous works.
Breakfast is a pb&j on whole grain bread and hot tea. Not the most OP perhaps, but hey, the sandwich is made and I am worn out. Works for me.
Hot tea tastes just perfect this morning. So soothing & delicious. And OP!
Supper will be homemade turkey soup and bread & cheese & a big salad. mmmmm.
Hope everyone has a great day & gets to pop in for a hello. BIG HELLO to all still to come & all our lurking sisters too!

Good morning! I'm getting ready for my dental visit and hours of no food by eating a tasty eggwhite wrap. I grilled up my eggwhite last night and chilled it overnight, then wrapped it in a whole wheat tortilla with some mayo this morning. Had planned to heat it, but it's good cold.
We listened to "The People's Pharmacy" on the radio last night and they reported some studies on low fat diets vs. low glycemic index diet. As I may have said before, I once lost lots of weight on a very lowfat diet but my cholesterol did not change substantially and I was hungry all the time. I exercised all the time, and I ate bagels all day long. I ate about 2400 calories a day and lost weight. I never stopped moving, though. The reason I stopped was that after a year of this lowfat eating, one doctor said my cholesterol was high and I should consider a low fat diet. I was certain I needed more nuts and seeds for monounsaturated fats, but I never did get on track at a proper level and just gave up all together.
The low glycemic index plan is pretty much what I did when I lost all my weight post hyst, but I admit, I didn't have much of an appetite for a long time after the surgery. So my plan is to pay close attention to the glycemic index again, plenty of water, and work on the portion control. I know I can do it, and I will feel better for it. I have been so reluctant to commit to any kind of plan for the past year, I am a little relieved to have stated it here.
And I am losing interest in sweets. Not completely, and you know I'll never give them up, but cravings are different. In fact when I finish a good meal of savory flavors, I don't want to ruin the feeling with sweets. This is ALL NEW to me, and so I ignore the sensation and continue to follow the meal with a sweet, but yesterday I had a sugar-free chocolate candy that was very good and I felt fairly complete with just one. So there is hope for me after all (maybe!). Somewhere I read (was it here?) that post-menopausal women don't taste the sweetness as much, and so require MORE sweet flavor than before. I can definitely tell that sweetness just doesn't taste the same now. It goes from delicious to offensive to almost not there. Maybe my taste buds get saturated. Now it's up to me to learn to stop eating when the signals change. Too much talk for this early in the morning. Back to work and then pop a valium ( 's orders) and LT will pick me up and drive me to the dentist for an enjoyable morning with my mouth open
Fran, the electric shoe polisher is so cute! My father always shined his shoes, and my grandfather had an electric polisher, but in all my many adult years I never really wore any shoes that could be polished! And those that could, usually got eaten by a dog before the first polishing!
Val, welcome home! I'm glad you had no firsthand tornado experience this weekend, that would have put a damper on things. Sounds like a fun weekend, all in all!!
Xena, you do make housework sound so exciting and fulfilling, maybe you could come to my house and just cheer me and LT on a little bit. You could sit with a cup of hot tea and give me instructions? I sure wish I found tea as delightful and satisfying as you do...but I don't, not yet anyway.
Have a great Monday, friends!

Good Morning Best Ones,
We have returned from our seemingly endless turkey odessey. Who ever said God doesn't have a sense of humor? Dh and I arrived home yesterday afternoon around 4 PM. Shortly thereafter, our doorbell rang. It was our next door neighbor with a package that had come the day before....can you guess? Do I have to spelling it out? I can't...even ...bring myself....to ..type ...the words! It was a smoked TURKEY from my MIL!!!!! DH and I laughed until we cried
I will have to catch up on everyones posts but hope you all had a delightful holiday!
Fran.K, Glad you AND Billy had such a slendid dinner.
Val, Isn't Bourbon St bizarre? I love New Orleans but to me it's like visiting a foreign country.
Xena, I am proud of you attaking the frig. I need to do the same here. It's always an adventure to see what has crawled to the back and morphed into something else...
Desk, Sounds like you are really in controll of your diet.
 s to all,
Peggy

I've already proven myself wrong. I like sweets in the morning, after a healthy breakfast. Someone brought in a huge bag of choc chip cookies - natchurally I had to have one, or two. Maybe I'll NEVER be in control? But I admit, I'm a little more awake than I was earlier. I was really crawling around here with eyes half open before that.
Peggy, welcome home, and about the smoked turkey, although smoked ones don't taste the same as the regular holiday type. Your turkey marathon has really had me smiling.
LT is waiting outside to drive me to the dentist. He's so sweet. He's only an hour early

Good morning !
Desk - hope your dental work is swift & painless!!! So nice of LT to drive you.
Mis Val - glad you had fun in New Orleans... tornado warnings??? One of the college students who is our aquacize instructors is heading to Naw'lins for her internship for spring semester...she's studying theraputic recreation and will be in a pedi hospital. Such new & cool careers for college students now!
Xena - so your house is a bit emptier w/o your college students? The revolving door of parenthood!
BSQ - ... and we *know* you won't share your age !!!
Nancy - hope you arrive back home safely...was thinking of your holiday drive through snow, as we drove to ME on T'day morning in 50 degree temp...couldn't believe it!
Melissa - you'll be glad to know that there *is* skiing in VT because of manmade snow - passed by Loon Mtn in NH on way home, & there was skiing there. MT Washington was covered in snow.
We had high winds and rain yesterday that brought down branches & trees ... we were w/o electricity for about 12 hours...so went out to eat for supper. Less than a mile down the road the lights were on, but not ours!
Well, this whole conversation is not on topic, cuz I'm avoiding that!!! Eating was mindful, but did include appetizers & pies, plus I didn't take my diuretic pill while traveling, and now I feel like one of Peggy's many stuffed turkeys.
Hello to everyone reading and posting!!!

Good Morning
Sorry I've been MIA. I had an injury to my arm which made it tough to type. Sadly enough it was due to a struggle with one of my students. I've taken a class on passive restraint so hopefully I'll be better able to protect myself in the future. The first week or so my arm got hurt DH and DS were on cooking duty....we had a lot of take out and fast food during that time. Obviously NOT op! Then with Thanksgiving being last week, OP'ness has not been even been a consideration for me lately. I haven't weighed myself and don't plan to. I know I've gained as my clothes are fitting tighter. Realistically I know I won't be "good" for Christmas (cookies and what-not) either. However my goal is to at least be "better" than I have previous years.
My guys are hunting today and there is NO school (woo-hoo!) so I have the whole day to whatever "I" want.....Feels like Heaven!! Hmmm, what do I want to do.....I think I will go and visit the teacher of my class and then do a little Christmas shopping! Sounds like a good plan to me!!
BSQ~ Hope you have a Great One!!
Desk~ Great to see your back posting....I missed you!!
OK, Time to get moving!
Hope you all have the BEST day!
Take Care, Dawn

Well, the post turkey weigh in confirmed my worst fears...up 3 lbs I have to confess I was not OP over the last several days. DH kept rubbing my shoulders and plying me with wine to help me face another plate of tan foods. If you can't beat 'em, join em and join them I did. Now it's time to get back in the saddle.
I have already consumed 3 of my eight glasses of water so I am off to a good start. Apparently, substituting wine for water just doesn't work for me...
Today breakfast was an apple and an egg biscuit. Lunch will be a good salad probably ceasar and dinner will be leftover steak from last night with veggies.
Here's to everyone having an OP day!
Peggy...and no it's not wine in that glass...

Good Morning Everyone!!! We are back from our long weekend of travels, tired of being in the car, but none the worse for wear. We left home right after the radio warning went out for a Winter Storm Warning for our county. But it was better south, so off we went. DD left too at the same time, so we followed her down the interstate until she turned off to head off toward her DBF's. But the roads were getting better by then. It was a 20 mph drive for the first 40 miles or so of the trip. (That was on the interstate ). Glad we didn't have any junk food handy. It might have been a huge case of nervous eating. (And when we got home last evening, it was all gone, so no shoveling for us).
Weekend food went wonderfully for me, and I got on the scale this morning down a pound after Thanksgiving weekend. DH also lost a couple of pounds. (And DD just announced she's lost 4 since she's come home). We are very pleased with ourselves over this.
We got to see the Grandbabies on Saturday for a few hours and had a great time with them. I'll try to post an updated photo of them when I get the chance.
I'm getting going slowly this morning. DD is cleaning out my kitchen cupboards, so I think I'll go to Curves to save my sanity. But they really did need this and it does look really good.
Ok, I've got to get moving. Time for Curves, grocery, laundry, and decorating of the house.
Desk, I hope the dentist visit goes well. I've had many of those long long times in my dentist's chair. Will you feel good enough to head to Curves later today? (Remember, it's Monday
 )
Hi Fran, Miss Val, Xena, Desk, Peggy, Bliss, and Dawn. I've read the last few days posts. But time is limited to try and catch up or even remember what we've all be doing.
 to Everyone!
Have a BEST OP day!
