Talking - OMG its Dec already, 1 Dec 2004 OMG its Dec already, 1 Dec 2004

Good morning Ladies!
Well thank you for the info on nutcrackers, they look very attractive, have they been traditional for years??? We couldn't have stuff like that in the area where I live, as we are a lot of terraced houses, and a lot of them step out of their front door into the street. We have a box bay front window, and a couple of foot of 'garden' and a gateway, so we are posh!
Just having peanut butter on toast for brekkie, not sure what lunch will be, and the concensus (big word early in the morning, eh?) for dinner tonight is spaghetti bolognese (a big favourite in our house!)
Work is retail, as in other peoples therapy (call me a therapist,) and tonight, we have the school christmas fete, so I will drag myself out for that. There is a CD of the children singing christmas carols, and a boy in Amy's class won the competition to design the front cover, and our local mp attended their school assembly to present him with a prize.
Well, gotta go and match up some socks, as nobody else seems to be able to, hope you all have a great day, and when the brain fog clears, I will post again later to remember what else I had to say!

Fran... you are right!!! Time seems to fly so unbelievably fast anymore... next thing you know we'll be wishing each other happy holidays

I'm still not done with the shopping... and hopefully tonight I will find some time to get my online shopping done & a list made of where I need to go & for what. But... that will happen after I get a hair cut & go to Curves & pick up x-ray, etc... and, maybe walk the dogs -- depending if the rain lets up... had to kick them out of the house this morning... they hate rain & I can't quite blame them

Yesterday was not very OP... didn't have much of an appetite & then I just sought out some comfort food -- don't laugh -- I really enjoyed some perogies sauteed with onions -- yummm -- and, they were the low fat ones. Just felt very exhausted yesterday... feeling much better this morning though!!! Ready to charge through this day...

I scheduled my appointment with the surgeon for Monday coming up... and according to my doctor's office... I may not need to see the specialist depending on how the surgeon's visit goes. And, for some reason that did make me feel better... I guess it's who you talk with & how they convey information -- the nurse practioner I spoke with yesterday was great.

Gosh... look at the time... gotta run & get ready for work... hope to pop in later tonight for CHAT!!

Have a great day

Sue

Happy Wednesday and Happy December!

Fran, sounds like a fun event at the school - hope it was! When you refer to "spag bol" is that the Bolognese you are talking about ? It sounds good, will mention it to DH who adores spaghetti, and in fact will suggest we make it with spaghetti squash again. That's a good substitute for the pasta if it's available.

Sue, funny with the dogs. My guys don't actually "like" the rain, but they are willing to walk in it if I am. But we have not had much rain to deter us.

All, yes, I am chasing that wagon too. I'm part of the crowd. And that's why I am excited about the new health center and the classes. DH and I were discussing this further, and he agrees that I like to be part of a group, and I respond well to an organized class. Since I have prepaid my membership at Curves, I won't quit there, and I INTEND to use the membership right up to the end. But I am also excited about having a step class to go to, everyone struggling through the same thing at the same time. Call me weird but I like the classes. I know several of you have suggested I choose one thing and follow through with it, but remember, I have to really CHOOSE it, not just select from the smorgasbord and figure that I'll do it just because it's there and I don't mind doing it. I seek out the workout buddies and I like classes. So let's try it. This new office location has really thrown me for a loop since it's a longer commute and I'm just not familiar with what's available in the area. And basically NOTHING is within walking distance as it was when I worked downtown. It's a whole new life and schedule and I just have to find the routine that works for me. And then, who knows when I might drop everything to help my folks again...

So anyhow, today I will take a free sample class at the new place and I'm excited about that. Have a pretty good lunch of beans and rice and chicken, and three bean salad with garbanzos added. DH put the 3 bean salad in, and while it's sweet, it adds good flavor to the beans and rice so I plan to enjoy it. Of course HE didn't mix everything together, but I did and it tastes good

Now for a breakfast of hot cereal - Perfect Balance, a combo of oats and wheat that tastes mostly like Cream of Wheat to me, with some cottage cheese and yogurt, dried fruit and a couple of peanuts.

Who had the bad cottage cheese, was that you Bliss? What a bummer, that's always such a letdown when I anticipate something and open it only to find the subject of my anticipation has gone bad

You are all inspiring me, and I feel so much more positive than I have in a long long time Thank you soooo much!
love,
Desk

Hola mis amigas:

Don't worry tonight is my last spanish lesson so this phase will pass... Just a quick note as I have to dash to the office. I was pretty OP yesterday...one minor slip. A co-worker brought a sweet potatoe pie to the office YUMMM!!!! I simply couldn't resist but took a very small slice.

Today is oatmeal for breakfast with a banana, lunch will be a greek salad and dinner is lamb chops and broccoli.

I will come back later and continue my post.

Hi gals --

Headed out the door to pick up my mom and and take her to her doc's appt...........today's exercise will be in patience!! (I know I've used that line before, but Mom, I ya, but ya make me crazy :hair: )

Just wanted to add a couple of random thoughts (guess I like BSQ's random Q's~~)

Desk -- I totally understand. I like a class for exercise too. Nothing wrong with that! Also, I belonged to two gyms for a while, the last two times I changed gyms (in order to get the deal I had to go ahead and join the new one but still had time left on my membership at the old one). It worked out well for me. I'd look at both schedules and see which gym was offering what that day and decide which I wanted to do. Actually I really liked it, and if it wasn't cost prohibitive, I'd probably still be doing it!! As far as choosing one thing and following thru with it -- I don't think it matters so much with exercise as long as you're MOVING and doing SOMETHING. I do think that when it comes to food plans, choosing one thing and following thru with it (lowcarb, low fat, Weight Watchers, whatever it is) is pretty good advice. Kind of like hrt or anti-depressants -- you have to stick with it for a while to know if it's going to work for you.

Margarita ~~ (aka Peggy) Ola!! I'll be over at dinnertime.......love lamb chops and hardly ever buy them.

Sue -- perogies!! every summer we go to the perogie festival at the Ukranian Church in NY.........my great-nephew calls it the Church of the Holy Perogie..............keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, please let us know how the visit with the surgeon goes.

Can't believe it's Dec 1 already. I need to tackle cards, wrap gifts, get to the post office.........like all of us. The list goes on. And dh wants me to make 5 more blankets?!?! Ah well that will depend upon whether I find material today.

CHAT tonight!! DH has a meeting so I'll be home all alone (well the beagles are good company) and looking forward to it.

HUGS TO ALL -- and best wishes to our sick gals, sending healthy healing thoughts --

Ann

Hi all

Hard to believe it is December. It is hubbys and my 12 Anniversary on Sunday. WOW where did the time go?

This morning I had a tough workout. My new personal trainer. ( LOVE HOW THAT SOUNDS ) gave me an ab workout OMG. So I have been following through with it. OUCH is all I have to say. I am feeling literally pumped. I did 20 mins on the bike and will do 30 minutes on the Elipitical machine when Meghan is at dance. So all in all a great workout.

My goals for this month are: MAINTENANCE, MAINTENANCE, MAINTENANCE. January 3rd is the start of my get down and dirty no eating off program. You know me I am goal orientated. So it should all work out. Especially now that I have a gym to use over the Christmas holidays.

Ann good luck with your mom. I know you love her but that she drives you crazy. Is that not what moms are for ?

Desk good for you. I truly believe you have to pick something you love and will do. I love the kind of workout I do but it is not for everyone. Weights are very empowering for me.

Fran thanks for the start up. What is a terrace house? Is that like a town house?

Sue My family had perogies last night to. I dont like them and I dont eat potatoes so it was not a biggie for me. But they all raved and ooooooooooooohhhhhhhed and ahhhhhhhhhhhhed so I guess they were good. Hope you get a nice haircut and have fun at curves.

Peggy or AKA Margarita. You crack me have fun at your last class tonight.

Okay I am offffffffffffff

Wow, what a happening place this party is!!! Love beginning my day here.

Katie, 12 years! Happy Anniversary!!! (early, i know). Yes, where does the time go? Love your goal for December. I'm gonna be scared of you in January! Yikes, sign the kids up for camp or something & spare them!!! You are awesome.

Yes Ann, good luck today. Moms definitely drive us crazy! Just ask my kids....hmmmmm. I could tell I was on one dd's nerves by the time she went back school after break... such is life.

Margarita, uno dos tres cuatro cinco seis siete ocho nueve diez. There, didn't wanna miss out on the bilingual thing going on here. Impressive, eh?

Desk, you are wonderful. How I've missed you. So you are a joiner. Now that you have that figured out you are on the way, my sister.

Sue, you will remain in my prayers as you move through these appts etc. Take a few slow, deep breaths as you arrive at the salon so you really relax & get the full benefit of the pampering! When I stop & do some breathing I am often surprised to find out how tense I was.

Fran, I'll bet the school program will be precious. I'm having peanut butter toast for breakfast, too. sooooooooo good.
Have a good one, you are always so busy!

I am still on the sick list. Geez, it's hanging on & now a sinus infection has joined the flu & they are having a wild party here. Started on an antibiotic so hopefully things will improve soon. I have too much to do to be sick. sigh. I know, everyone does. It's just so frustrating.
I have an appetite but must choose carefully so as not to upset the tummy. Tea & soup & toast mostly. Maybe like Dawn, I'll get lucky & lose a few during this episode.
Hope you all have the BEST day & make it to CHAT!!!
Rats, out of smilies. Well, HUGE HUGS going out to all. Thanks for everything.

post from long lost bester!

Hi everyone! It's been many months since I was last here. What a year it has been. So much has happened. On the eating side I've just completed my 200th workout @ Curves and I am still loving it. I have been through their weight loss class a few times and now I am teaching it. Hard to believe! The scales still dont move a lot. I've probably lost 30lbs and 25inches. I'll take it. I hope everyone is well! Maybe I can get back in here again. Life took over this year and it's been a struggle. Melissa if you are still here, I need your email address. I know that it changed. Hope everyone has a great day. You have been missed! Sharon

Good morning ladies!!!!! Very rainy, chilly day here in good ole PA!
I was OP yesterday until after dinner when I couldn't resist the last piece of apple pie my mom made. It was yummy but now gone out of the fridge. Water was a problem yesterday for some reason or other but I will improve on it today. I will be heading off to Curves in a few. Breakfast was a small cheese omelet and 1 slice of toast, lunch will be a bunless burger and some leftover veggies, and dinner is yet to be determined. Snacks will be yogurt and nuts.

Fran, you just crack me up!

Sue, s

Desk, good luck!

Peggy, Feliz Navidad!

Ann, I can definitely relate to the "mom" thing.

Katie, You go girl!

xena, You always brighten my day!

Sharon, back! You were my inspiration to join Curves.

Later..........
