HRT Cost

Just curious what most of you pay for your hormone replacement therapy. I know a lot of you have total insurance coverage but I am trying to budget bills and currently pay $25 monthly for Vivelle-Dot and $45 for monthly Vagifem and find this expensive. It was cheaper to pay for birth control pills and tampons. My husband is asking if I need both but I just started Vagifem so too soon to tell. Let me know, maybe I am overcharged.
Thanks
Julie

Hi Julie

I pay $32 for my estrogen and $16 for progesterone. The Testosterone is another $16 but that one is filled about every 3 months. Then I pay another $48 for my compounded vaginal estrogen cream which lasts about 3 months. My insurance reimburses me for 60% of what I pay.

There are other vaginal estrogen products you could consider. I don't know if they are any cheaper, but you could price them through your insurance. The other products are mentioned in this article about vaginal dryness.

The things you have to pay for, continually makes my jaw drop in shock!
I have no idea how much it costs us() for prescriptions, but its usually around £6 per item (as in a months supply) Birth control pills are free!

Julie,
Insurance co pays are going up. For some other meds that I take, I used to pay a $10 co pay and now have to pay $20. A co-worker's husband is on some meds for cholesterol and she told me her co pay is $45 for that particular med.

For my hrt, I use the compounded hormones and they cost me a $10 co pay for each one. If I had to pay out of pocket, my pharmacist charges approximately $25 for a 30 day supply. It may be more now, as that was the price 5 years ago.

If I add in the supplements I take and my asthma meds...I don't even want to add up the cost. To me though, it's worth it. I am worth it! If the scripts you are on get you to feeling better, than it is well worth the price.

My insurance does not cover any of my prescriptions.

For Vivelle Dot I pay $37.00 per month. I get it at Costco which is the most reasonably priced pharmacy in my area.

My compounded progesterone cream and compounded testosterone cream cost $29.00 each, which I use sparingly...so they last me for at least 3 months.

The Premarin Vaginal cream costs $54.00 per tube, which lasts for more than 3 months.

As (((Kim))) said....it's all well worth the price for me so that I can be balanced and feel good.

I order through my insurance company mail order pharmacy and pay $30 for a three month supply of Climara. If I purchased directly from the local pharmacy the co-pay is $15 per month. One time I purchased on my own not using insurance and paid $34 for a one month supply.

Hi Girls

I get my bio hormones from Women's Intl. I pay $10 for Testosterone, $13.12 for Estriol, and Progesterone $12.75 and they charge you $4.00 to ship by Fedex for delivery. I think that is really reasonable for 1 month supply-all in gel form. They also have pharmacists to speak with you on any problems you may be having-very nice. I have to file my own insurance but they normally will file for you-you can ask them when you call if they file certain insurances. I don't know of anywhere else that is this reasonable.

Hugs to all!
