skin itching where patch goes

I had some itching in the beginning, but that has stopped. I have found that before I put on the patch, I use a little rubbing alcohol on the spot where the patch will go....that has helped me with itching and skin irritation.
Good luck.

skin itching where patch goes

Beatlepeg,
I switched from the Climara (patch) to the Vivelle (dot, i.e. smaller patch) of the same strength, mostly because the Climara made me itch, terribly. Vivelle doesn't make me itch. Vivelle is changed twice per week, rather than once. This is a small nuisance, but I feel like it also gives me a more continuous supply of estrogen. The Climara patch seemed to get "weak" towards the end of my week. . . . Also there are several other ways of getting estrogen besides patches, though I find the patch to be preferable in many ways. Hope you find relief.

skin itching where patch goes

I have the same problem. It usually starts itching the day before I need to change it. I love the size of the vivelle dot, but I do wish there was a solution for this itching and irritation problem

skin itching where patch goes

I ended up w/ burning, itching hives/welts w/ climara and then after 3 mos. vivelle. (I have asthma and lots of allergies-so guess I was xtra sensitive) Too bad, but have happily been on estrace pills for a yr.and1/2. (Hope my liver's o.k. down the road) Feel like it's all so hard to put together

Irritation from patch use..

Hi,
I tried both the Climara patch, and Vivelle dot, and both gave me
a red itchy welt from the adhesive. I finally had to admit defeat
and took a hormone shot yesterday. My doctor has also suggested a new product called Estrogel to try, which is a
transdermal gel which hopefully won't cause skin irritation.
I am disappointed I couldn't use the patch, but oh well. I guess
we all have to experiment to find out what works for us...Nita
