Finally Done
Well it is all finally done and over with now comes the hard part. The recovery. I had my TVH done early morning Nov 30th and I was home by Dec 1 @ 2:00. Now I'm home it is not easy to rest. I feel like this is just another onset of a bad Period. I'm trying not to do things but yet find myself saying that I can do anything my body feels comfortable doing. I'm taking motrin right now. The darvaset did not knock me out like I would hope so that I was forced to stay in bed. So today is a motrin day, And well see how it goes so far I want to wrap presents but i'm not. I want to drive to the jpost office for stamps and I have not ate much in the past few days and I'm craving fast food. Even though my frig is staocked like a grocery store nothing looks good. I just want to go out!!! I want to sweep the mess in front of me and I want tom pick up all the presents and wrap them...UGGHH... how do I stand down?? I have my room set up to where I really don't need to leave my room but yet I feel stir crazy.. of course I'm alone during the day, so it's hard not to do whatever I want to. Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

Besides drinking lots of fluids and walking (around the house, at this point), I would take the strongest painkiller your doc has prescribed and rest. Even though it won't, "knock you out", it's still better than just Motrin. Or, alternate the two. Whatever you choose, you deserve to have adequate pain control! If, once you've tried everything, you are still unrelieved, I'd be calling the doc for something else. Am glad to see you are done and back home, new Princess!! Take care........

I totally agree with Fribroid woman...take the meds and get in the bed and tell yourself you are going to stay there and relax. When you are home alone is the perfect time to sit there and do nothing! Take advantage of it.
Don't push yourself too far and try to do too much, your body will let you know later and it will not be fun.
I hope the rest of your recovery is uneventful.

Wow. Deja vu. That's exactly how I felt the first few days!
Well, except that I wasn't particularly in any kind of mood to go anywhere. I was sore, tired, and too scared to do much of anything. Besides, DH didn't seem to quite understand how to make the car ride smooooooth, so I didn't WANT to be driven around!
You could probably wrap small presents. Just be sure that you don't lift up anything too heavy. Let someone else go to the post office for you. As for the cabin fever, if you are someplace that is not covered in ice and snow, there shouldn't be any harm in stepping outside for a bit. At the very least, you can go from window to window and look outside. Then rest a bit. Take those naps you never had time for before.
As for that fast food: in the first week after my operation, the very thought of fatty food turned my stomach! Well, everything turned my stomach back then. I was slightly nauseated the afternoon of my operation, so the nurse turned on the anti-nausea IV for me - and it made my throw up! When my dr came to visit, I opened my eyes, looked at him - and threw up! Perhaps you should stick to things like fresh produce and soup for a while. There will be plenty of time for cheeseburgers later in recovery.

Thank you ladies for the advice. I have made it 1 week today. I also had the nausea after the surgery and for the whole time I was in the hospital. They gave me stuff that they said would releive the nausea but it made me even sicker. It took a couple days of their meds to get out of my system but when they did I just wanted a Wendy's Chicken sandwich. DH went and got me one and it was horrible. I would take stronger drugs to keep me in a state of recovery, But my doctor only gave me 2 days worth of Prescription meds and told me that she feels that Motrin works best. It has helped with the pain, but I can't seem to just not pick up the things laying on the floor or get the food out of the oven. Well I'm feeling it now. And my 17year old daughter she said to me last night "well I don't know why you don't just do things yourself your doctor said just don't pick up anything heavier then a gallon of milk!" My family has relied on me too much. This morning my hubby gets mad because I don't have any more cash on me to give our 17 year old for gas money to go to school. He said all he had was one $20.00 and the rest was hundreds, he didn't want to give up that twenty (even though he works by the bank. ) I told him that's fine I have my change jar. I guess since I cannot go to the bank, I can count her out money from that. I covered all bases I thought except having extra cash on hand. I never that cash would be a problem. I have my 1 week appointment with the doctor tomorrow I guess we will see whats going on then.

I know exactly how you feel. I have a 2 and a 4 yr old and it seems like my hubby doesn't understand the concept of what recovery is. He just lets me do whatever I want even if it could hurt me in the long run. They're the ones who are supposed to make us lay there and not do anything but instead it's like they just think once you start doing stuff that you are back to normal. They don't think it could really cause damage. I too am going crazy in the house and mine was 5 weeks ago! I just don't go anywhere b/c it's too hard to get my kids in carseats at this point. Hang in there, one day everything will be back to normal!!

You need to stop picking things off the floor, let them lay there, don't sweat the small stuff! You also should not be getting things out of the oven either.
As for your DD, she is a teenager, can't expect too much there, she just doesn't get it. Maybe you need to explain to her exactly what they did and maybe she might understand.
