Im having alot of pain still

Hi Pammy
I am sorry you are still in pain. It is normal to still be hurting so soon out of surgery. I took 2 percocets and 800mg. ibuprofen for a week, then I just used the ibuprofen during the day. I did add the percocet at night trying to get a good nights sleep.
Try to rest as much as possible. I know it is hard to do. Anytime you have a question concerning your recovery it is good to call the dr. That is what they get paid for. I hope you feel better soon. It really does get better as time goes on. It took me weeks to actually be pain free.

Take care
Peggy

Im having alot of pain still

Hi there,
I can honestly tell you that I felt the same way! I am two weeks post op now and I am doing better pain wise. I still have the painful bowel movements and from what I've read on here that is pretty common. The first week was painful and hard for me too and although I am still quite sore it is nowhere near as bad as then. Hang in there. Stool softeners, gas-x, and a heating pad helped me. Also pain meds can dehydrate you which will make bowel movements more painfull so drink lots of water. Take care.

Im having alot of pain still

6 days post-op I was still hurting lots.

Until at least 10 days post-op, I was alternating my meds every 3 hours so nothing wore off at one time, which was the worst! And I couldn't sleep for more than 2-3 hours at a time.

You've had some major surgery and repairs done, and it's going to be a few weeks before stuff stops hurting. You're doing great!

I am glad you called the doc to let him know that pain is still very bad. I hope he can ease your mind or give you something for it.
Please let us know how you are doing and what the doc said.

Im having alot of pain still

Hello,
I am 5 days post op and my experience has been to just drink alot of fluids. My doctor said that if you are having a hard time moving those bowels take some milk of magnesia or metamusul. That will soften your stools so its not so painful. I am taking 600 mg of Motrin and 1 lortab every 6-8 hours for pain and it has been pretty stabelizing. Get lots of rest. It gets better everyday.
Good luck to you!! I hope you get feeling better!
