Laparoscopy Tomorrow 11:30 Am

Hi Ladies:

Well, tomorrow at 11:30, I will be in surgery for the second time since hysterectomy Sept.2003. My doctor suspects adhesions are interfering with my right side intestines.

I am really nervous about this surgery, even though it is minor.
The hysterectomy was a breeze. I guess it is the unknown that I am afraid of. I hope it is only adhesions, not anything else. I also have been battling an ugly bladder infection for two weeks, but that seems to be clearing up.

I am going to try to have the surgery with local anesthetic and sedation, rather than general. I told them I don't want to be nauseous when I wake up, I had a spinal with hysterectomy and felt fine afterwards.

Does anybody know how long the recovery is? I am guessing about a week or so. I know that you can't do any heavy lifting or exercising for awhile.

Hi, I know just how you feel. Been there 4 times myself. Recovery depends on the work they do while you are under. Could be a few days and could be weeks. Also with each additional surgery, some find that the recovery time is longer.

Be patient with yourself!! Set expectations for those around you of a longer recovery period than you think and then you will all be pleasantly surprised!!!

I wish you good luck Diane. The recovery for a lap tends to be about 2 weeks if it is a simple lap, could be more depending on what they do.
Please let us know how you are doing and what the doc finds when he goes in.
I will be praying for you tomorrow. I have you on my calender.

Hi Diane. I am here to wish you good luck.
I had a lapro in Sept. for suspected left side adhesions. The surgeon didn't find any, just a bunch of scar tissue all over my abdominal wall.He went ahead and removed my GB, which was to be removed within a month. I felt so much better within a few days. I was able to walk all over the county fair all week long without pain. I was back to work in two weeks.

I hope all goes well tomorrow and you get rid of that nasty pain.

Good luck

I MADE IT THROUGH LAPAROSCOPY :)

Hi Everyone:

It is almost 10:00 PM here and I was having trouble laying down being in too much pain and wanted to stop by and update you on the surgery.

I did have General Anesthesia and no nausea. I was actually hungry when I woke up.

My doc found alot of adhesions on my right side of bowel and where my ovary was.

I have 3 incisions, one was made through my hysterectomy incision, OUCH.

I have to rest for 3 days and hopefully next week go back to work.

Gotta go now and take my percocet to help my pain and hopefully be able to sleep.

Thanks Sisters for praying for me

BAD PRINCESS :(

Good Morning Ladies:

I felt so much better that I went back to work on Monday, knowing Tuesday would have been a week since surgery.

By noontime Monday, I was so tired, I laid down and fell asleep for 2 hours and felt like I had been hit by a truck.

My stitches come out this Thursday. I decided to wait until next week to go back to work. My incision where hysterectomy was done is tender and still black and blue. Is it true when they do a lap there are inside stitches as well?

I don't want these adhesions to come back. They were also on my bladder and my pelvis.

Back to the couch!!!!!

Diane,

Iam glad you got through surgery okay. I can't believe you tried to go back to work that soon! But I guess you figuired that out on Monday. You need about 2 weeks recovery for a lap., yes there are internal stitches with a lap. I will pray really hard that your adhesions don't come back as well. Please keep us updated and stay on that couch!

I forgot to ask , did you have a local or a general? I know you wanted to have it done with a local.
