CA 125 test results
I had a TAH January 28 of this year. The doctor removed a cantaloupe size tumor which was on my right ovary. He said it was a borderline tumor of low malignancy potential. I have check ups and blood work every 3 months. In September, the CA 125 came back an 11. I went last Wednesday, and this time it came back a 42. What does this mean? I have called the doctor, but he is in surgery right now, so I won't get to talk to him until later. Can anybody give me an idea of what he'll do and what this means? I am very upset and worried, and I don't think I can wait until he calls me back.

CA 125 test results
I have ovarian cancer, as opposed to a tumor with LMP, so I can't tell you a lot. But keep in mind that many things can elevate CA-125, from pelvic inflammation to even a flu shot. CA-125 is an imperfect test, so it's possible something other than an ovarian tumor is causing the rise. Remember also that normal is 35 and below, and 42 isn't a lot higher.
I hope you'll get to talk to your doctor soon. I know how hard it is to wait for a phone call to get returned.

CA 125 test results
hi there,
I know how hard that waiting game is. I dont' play it well....my mind gets filled with all sorts of thoughts..and the waiting... It's usually worse than the news you are waiting to hear about!
As twofer said, there could be lots of reasons for an elevated ca-125. Hopefully, you will hear from your doc soon and you will be relieved of your worry!
Let us know what he says,
all the best,
k9

CA 125 test results
I have the same diagnosis as you. LMP tumor. TaH/BSO on 7/20. Just had my CA125 and it was 10. It was 27.4 before surgery.
From what i have read this test is not fool proof. Many things can affect this. It''s hard not to worry but what did your Doc say at the September check up?
Let us know how you make out.
Lisa

CA 125 test results
I haven't had any of the same experiences of you, but wanted to let you know I am thinking of you.
I hope it turns out to be something minor like inflamation, as the ladies posted.
Good luck, I know waiting is so hard!
