endometrial stripe thickness

I'm new to this neighborhood. I have enjoyed surfing around and feel that I am in the company of some great women who have "been there".
Does anyone know what "endometrial stripe thickness" is and how significant it is if it is 11mm. My primary doc says it shouldn't be more than 5mm. I am 40 years old and have not had children. I also have 2 decent sized fibroids (who doesn't?).
I am a bit concerned about the thickness and I have an appointment with Gyn on monday.

Thanks for any insight you can offer

You don't say if you are postmenopausal or not, but I assume that if you are only 40 you are not. I recently had an ultrasound and my "stripe" was 7 mm which they told me was concerning, so I then had an endometrial biopsy. But I am 51 and postmenopausal, so that makes a big difference.

okay I guess I did leave out some important info. I am not menopausal. I think I just read a post that up to 12mm for premenopausal is considered normal.

Hi there,

My stripe was thickened (sorry I don't remember to what) and there was concern. I was 42, after endomertrial biopsy I was dx'd with endomentrial cancer. Very early stage - but needed TAH/BSO etc. Sounds like you are doing just what you need to, and are following up. Let us know how it goes, Judy
