Talking - Famous on Friday 10 Dec 2004 Famous on Friday 10 Dec 2004

Hello Ladies!
My eldest DD is famous on Friday! She has a part in the school play, of an angel, she has about 3 lines to say, and a whole song to sing on her own. I am going to see her, and my other DD this afternoon, I am so proud, and I haven't even seen her yet. My other DD is in the chorus, also an important part of the show, they are all in jeans and white t. shirts, the show is called 'Rock the Baby' ~ a nativity type modern show.
Right, had a bad night's sleep. was around, and only left when I had an hour left until it was time to get up, and of course, I could sleep like a log then....(Sound familiar??)
Working tomorrow, so today have done a whopping big shop, loads of washing, and am going to mop through now, as I have just swept and hoovered my downstairs, who needs a gym, huh?
Well, gotta get on, gotta then have a shower, and then head over the school for 1.30 to be a proud mum, they're saving me a seat at the front, to get a good view of my child star. (She is so brave to even stand on the stage on her own)
Right, foodwise its banana on toast for breakfast, just had an orange, will probably have a mince pie up the school, and dinner is a chicken dinner, with roasties, carrots, peas cabbage and cauliflower cheese and gravy
Gotta fly, running out of time, will post later and let you know how things went!
to all who follow and lurk.

Morning ladies
Yahoo it's Friday!! I know I know I have been mia for awhile.Have to confess I am a lurker,Congratulations to all that continue to roll steam ahead on opness.I am trying but Fred gets the best of me once I walk in the door. Right now I am trying to break some really bad eating habits. You know the ones ladies
emotional eating,I CAN DO THIS I CAN DO THIS!!!!!
My preschoolers are just a bit over stimulated right now and I must confess it is really draining, I come home exhausted.I am doing my best to keep things low key in the classroom but the outside influences are working againest me. The next two weeks will be a challenge so I guess if you can't beat em join em. I was dancing around like a fool yesterday. He he the class just looked at me like I had lost my mind. Young children can be so perceptive lol.
Fran: Enjoy you dds performances today. That brings back such fond memories of when my children were little.

s to all that are struggling right now I can relate,
Hello to all that follow this morning. Have a great weekend!!!

Ok then - Own up - Who sent over the pond ?????

Went to the gym last night, but at 10:30pm I collapsed in a heap in bed to be woken at and his playmates at 4:30am ... so I went downstairs, did some ironing and washing, defrosted the fridge and cleaned out the fish all before heading off to work at 7:30am ... feel like I had done a days work even before I started off !! All I can say is at least I have slept some and I am very thankful for that !

Countdown - 10 DAYS TO GO - I will be packing this weekend, all in preparation !!

Has some sad news last night, (I hope nobody minds me talking about it?) my Dear SIL lost her baby last night at 10 weeks pregnant, she has been plagued with fertility stuff, and they had to operate on her last night ... I was so shocked, more because I didn't know she was expecting - they feel very guilty about telling us happy news like 'we're expecting' and some times I find that really hard - like a taboo subject .... I want to say something about it but can't 'cos then I feel guilty and even more so now ..... Oh girls, the tyrrant of emotions is too much to take sometimes .... but I am upbeat and positive and that is the main thing .... I just hope they can feel my positive vibes at this tough time.

Fran - the school nativity play makes me cry all the time !!!

Gym tonight ... a question for you all - when you work out at the gym - do you compare the calories you have worked off with previous visits - we have this really nifty system and it even tells me I have worked off over 20,000 calories since the beginning of the year (not a lot I know - but better than nothing at all !) Unfortunately it doesn't include the swimming which is a shame!

Right better go - catch ya all later ...

Good morning all ,

TGIF!!!!!!!!!! It will be a busy day at work, so hopefully the day will fly. Yoga is done. Although I am ready to jump in the shower and head to work, I have to drop the pooch off for grooming so I have to dilly dally a bit . . . never a problem. LOL Breakfast will be my usual one lately--need to find a good meat protein choice for breakfast that I can have on hand. Thinking about cooking tons of seasoned boneless chicken breasts, cutting them into halves or quarters and then freezing them individually so I can pop one out a time to eat for a quick breakfast or lunch. Would come in handy I think. Could do garlic lime, other recipes, or just some salt and pepper.

No cookies today--did you hear me? I am committing to that. They are not all gone, although the boys did put a dent in them. I weighed myself this morning and it was not pretty. Yes, the scale can go up that quickly when I eat something that is non-OP for me. But, it can go down just as quickly--not quickly enough to look svelte for my friend tomorrow, but she loves me for me .

Fran--Hope your DDs' moments of stardom go well! Sorry, about Izzy visiting.

Monica--Bet you will find that the soda doesn't taste that great after not drinking it for days. Often I think our habits are just that, little things we've gotten into our mind that we think help us make it through--I revert back to the CF Pepsi when I am sick and on travel. I know I do better without it though. You'll figure out what works for you. Woohoo on the healthy eating too!!

((Val))--Have you tried the nuts and water approach? Try to grab a handful of nuts and a glass of water when you come through the door. Sit down and savor each one. I find nuts are tremendously satisfying. Yes, you can do it! I do remember how tired I was this time of year when I taught--the holidays put the kids into super overdrive!

We had some venison tenderloin last night and it was delicious. (I spied that when I went to get out the chicken.) Tonight we'll have the chicken probably. Salad again for lunch. I do love those for lunch. It is a healthy routine I don't desire to change.

Have a great Friday all !
Shirley

(((Toni)))--So very sorry about your DS' and your family's loss . . . tragic.

Hi ladies, good morning! Figured I'd sneak in here before the day gets busy and I dont get a chance to come back. Thanks to Shirley and Ann for your suggestions and wisdom. You are so right! Tomorrow I will go with a group of friends to our town's tour of homes. I cant wait, that will be fun and certainly lift the spirits. I need to lock Fred up!He only exist because of stocking stuffers!
Breakfast: low carb yogurt(4grams),pecans, blueberries. Later I will have a Curves shake. Lunch: ? Supper will be taco salad.

Hi Sharon--Just missed you . . . you sound much better!

Hey, Flylady suggestion girls . . . get rid of those decorations that are not your favorites . . . give them to charity and let someone else be blessed with them. I did and it was great. I had forgotten I had done this last year and when DH got out the Christmas boxes, I asked if that was all and he said yes. I then remembered and thought--COOL!! Makes life simpler and happier .

Okay, I am heading to the shower now . . .

Morning everyone! Yes a rare early appearance by me. Haev gotten a lot done this morning, and figured I'd check in before heading off to work.

Been OP the past week and down 1lb. This is keeping me within my goals for december so I am pleased with things so far. Course it's only 10 days into the month, but it's a good start!

Today marks my third year since my hyst. Also just got all my test results back from all my annuals and another clean bill of health this year! I've lost 7% body fat this year, where it came off of I haven't a clue.

My houses are decorated for the holidays, and I begin baking tonight! Heading to ATL for some holiday fun (and hopefully to get my car fixed).

Some random Q's:

Shirley, just do it! You won't regret making chicken ahead and freezing. We do it all the time so we have quick fixins for salads, quesidillas, burritos, etc.

Miss Val: Yes, YOU CAN DO IT! You can conquer Fred!

Monica: Good job on cutting back on the sodas!!

Toni: I, for one, don't pay attention to the calories the machines at the gym or any calculators say I've burned. I don't track them, I don't try to best them. Nada. What I do keep track of are the programs I use, the intensity levels and the speeds. I do try to best those every couple of days. I have found if I do that, I use it as a means to justify eating off plan. (I can have this treat if I do this exercise at the gym), and it never quite works out right for me.

To all, have a BEST day, see ya next week!

Heyyyyyyyyyy BEST!
What the heck is going on around here??? Everyone is up an at 'em so early! and BOBBY??!! Gotta be the jingle shoes shaking your tree this early. What a fun, fun thing to pop in here all bleary eyed and morning-brained and see all of you!

Bobby, Thank goodness for your great report!!! That is the very Best Christmas present !! Enjoy your baking weekend.

Shirley, my friend who does flylady (I mean, she really listens & obeys!) just did that with her decorations. She had 2 bags full to donate. Never thought of making garlic-lime chicken appetizers, Delicious & OP! I like your cook & freeze idea.

You are doing great being OP, Sharon! Keeping your dd in my prayers and you, too. Must be so difficult not to have her home right now. Sometimes it is the just hardest thing to help them in the ways they need to be helped. I imagine your Curves dedication is helping you manage your stress some. So glad you have one nearby!

Toni, go back to bed. Seriously, I hope you can get a bit rested before your wonderful vacation! 20,000 cals sounds like a pretty OP kinda result to me! And that's not counting swimming!!!

Val, you are a fun teacher, I'll bet! Yeah, tis the season for nuttiness of many sorts. Kiddies are no exception, that's for sure. Sounds stupid maybe, but can you prepare pretty veggie platters for yourself with some lo-cal dip & have that ready for your arrival home? Pull it out & nibble on sweet bell peppers while you prepare your OP supper.

Monica, you are my pop control hero. One every 5th day is a great idea! you are OP, sister!

Fran, the show sounds cute! BRAVO! to your dd. My BIL is English and he made cauliflower cheese for me. mmmmmmmm! so delicious. I have since made it myself using sharp cheddar and a bit of blue cheese.

Ok, no gym today because I have so much to do I am allowing myself to skip it. May walk with my neighbor though. Supper will be chicken something...maybe the GL. After all this talk, I'm hungry for it! I'll be op except for maybe a pop.
Just had an idea, I wonder if the Hysteritaville OP Cookbook could have a Gluten-free section. That'd be cool.

Have a great FRIDAY everyone!!! OP OP OP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good morning BEST family...

I am doing much better this AM...I guess yesterday was my annual pre-Christmas melt-down. I called dh at work and he came home at lunch time to talk, per my request. (This is over an hour round trip for him). Anyway, some of my problems were worked out & I guess I just needed to talk, not fume.

This morning I've been out to both pound in markers in the driveway in case we get snow & open up drainage in case we get rain. One weather report says that this will be our first major snowstorm of the winter, another says rain...duh!!! I'm ready for both, but since Lace (another hystersister who has my friend for forever) is arriving tonight for the weekend, it will prob be snow...she has a reputation for "bringing" snow when she visits in the winter!

Fran - have fun watching your kiddo's in the school production!!! Question...just what is your "mince" pie??? Is it a meat & potato pastie???

Toni...sending a BEST hug to your db & sil. Also to your work group for successful research...must make your job most satisfying.

Shirley - when cooking a lot of chicken breasts, do you broil, bake, or what???

Ann...the powerbabe blanket sister...lemon buttermilk pie??? can't imagine the flavor/texture.

BSQ - YEAH on the skinny, healthy report.

Sending smooth flight wishes to Nancy ...

Denise - how is your dd???

Off to do some grocery shopping...Ann, jealous of you & fresh fruit picked off your tree!!! Fresh veggie prices have skyrocketed here...earlier this week I considered $1.99/lb for green peppers an absolute bargin! Then I have to stop & realize how lucky we are to have the variety of produce year-round.

toodles for now...

Hi ladies -

Didn't make it in last week for my weekly "check-in" - can't even remember why not now, except that I know I worked a lot of extra hours last week, so that must have been it.

I have had a bit of the steam taken out of my sails - had a glucose tolerance test last week as I'd had some low blood sugar readings (one of the advantages to working at a health care facility - nurses to test you! ) and my doc called yesterday. Guess my readings were very low (they couldnt' believe I hadn't passed out in the lobby!), so they are saying I am definitely hypoglycemic. I am going next week to a diabetes center for nutritional counseling and then he wants me to see an endocrinologist. Not really sure why on that, unless he suspects something else.
Anyway, there are going to be major diet changes for me! Sugar is my main (and only) vice, so I'm feeling kind of sorry for myself right now. But, I know in the long run, I will feel lots better once I get myself straightened out.

Need to go wrap - everytime I think I'm done shopping, DH reminds me of something else that is needed! So off to shop a little more as well.

Tonight, however, I am so pumped - we have FRONT ROW seats for B.B. King concert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love B.B. King and have wanted to see him forever - I can't believe I am going to be that close! This is my Christmas present from DH and it couldn't be a better one!

Cheers to all those full-steam ahead sisters! And HUGS to those that need them - being one who suffers from clinical depression, I definitely understand getting the blues a bit this time of year. I agree with the others, though, for me making it simpler has really improved that.

Have a great weekend, everyone!
