Over Pampered?
Can you be over pampered by your partner?
I keep reading these threads where partners don't care, won't care (I know if I was still with my first DH I too would be posting the same thing) But I have the opposite problem.
Over protective DH syndrome.
I can't even lift a finger as he thinks that might be too heavy for me
I get to escape by going out for short walks on my own (at first he would come with me to make sure I didn't fall over)
I cooked our first meal 2 nights ago, now I know I was a bit tired after, but he thinks I over did it and won't let me do it again untill next week.
DH is a great cook btw.
We have guests coming tonight and he is cooking, he said I could help prepare the ingredients, then he wants me to behave and entertain the visitors. When I go out for my stroll this afternoon he will clean house. If we go to the shops all he will let me carry is the loo roll and he looks like a pack mule
I'm starting to feel guilty and also just a little too wraped up in cotton wool. I can't even make a cup of coffee for us without him following me into the kitchen to see what I'm up to.
I actually get a day of freedom on Tuesday as he has to go to see his boss 75 miles away and will be out most of the day,(he normally works from home) Am I going to revel in the solitude or be bored out of my skull
I know he is worried as I had heart issues during surgery, but I think he might be going to extrems, all this sitting around is bad for the heart ... Right?

Over Pampered?
Let him do it. You're only a couple of weeks out and shouldn't be doing all that anyway. My husband was the same way at first. It drove me a little crazy, but I knew it's what he needed to do for me - - does that make sense? My kids are teenagers and were able to help themselves so I was utterly bored after two weeks. I went back to work (and my life) after 3. Enjoy it while you can. I think it's far better to be overpampered than the other way around.

This, my dear, is a sign you are getting better. You are just bored out of you skull.
You choose a good partner. Now you know what he will be like when you are old and can't care of yourself.
Sit down with him and do some negotiating. That is what partners do.
But most of all................spread you wings slowly and know that you are one of the most luck women on earth (like me).

Over Pampered?
Isn't wonderful to be overpampered....I know what you mean my husband was and is the same way and I have been 10 months out. I look at it as a blessing though, not an annoyance. I have been married to him for over 20 years, and he is still such a sweetheart.
I know sometimes, you can feel like its getting on your nerves but, it is a blessing to have such a loving caring man, who is with you through thick and thin and who takes their responsibilities as a husband seriously. Let him take care of you, I sure let mine, and when you get well reciprocate the kindness...believe me it makes your recovery easier both phsically and emotionally, because you can put your efforts on healing knowing that you are being well taken care of, so enjoy your dh, he sound like mine...a real sweatheart....truly a blessing from God.

I don't think females can ever be over-pampered. Enjoy it while it lasts. You've got a good one there! You'll heal faster if you don't have to do all the other 'stuff'. Concentrate on you!
Take care. Happy Holidays!

Over Pampered?
Thank you all,
You don't know how much you kind words have helped me understand things from my DH's point of veiw, I will smile and thank him.
We had a chat and he said when he got the call from the Hosp that something was not right he feared the worst and thought he had lost me (he hadn't told me this before) So now I understand why he is being so carefull of me, he also does not want me to undo all the good healing I have already done.
So I will be a good pampered and enjoy all the fush he is giving me.

Over Pampered?
Got to add this little extra! I'm now 5 months post-op, but last week I was hit by a truck. My DH told me that when he got the call that I was being taken to a level 1 trauma emergency room, and that I had sustained head trauma......he realized that our last words could have been already spoken. He's been a dear through my hysterectomy...and now all over again with this new recovery scenario. How precious to know and have a man willing to tell you...that you're special and they love and prize us!!!!
It can't get any better in this life. Truly God has been at work in my life, my marriage and our spiritual and emotional growth.
Be thankful...I am! And if in doubt, know that I am a Christmas miracle this year....and so are YOU!
