Burning feeling
I am 14 days post-op and having a burning tingling feeling in my belly. Is this normal, did anyone else experience this. My belly is still numb feeling but on the inside, I feel hollow and empty.
There is a lot of pressure just getting up and down from a chair. It is like a pulling feeling. When will this all stop. I am tired of being in pain and being uncomfortable. I am beginning to think I may never stand up straight again.

Burning Feeling
I'm 10 days post-op SAH, I have the same feeling, but found that it was due to constipation. I added stool softener and more fiber to my diet, and the burning sensation has dissipated. I do have burning on my right side which I think is ovarian pain, will check w/ dr on 12/15.

Burning feeling
Hi-
I'm almost 3 weeks post-op and am still having that burning feeling around my incision and in my belly (also still numb and feels really bruised- strange combination). Sometimes I also seem to have gas build up. I think the burning might be from using our abnominal muscles and for me the burning around my incision I attribute to a lot of cutting, etc. The doctor removed alot of scar tissue from previous c-sections. I too am ready to feel better. It seems like you start feeling like ok I'm much better today, you end up going backwards the next day. I'm glad there's this web-site I hadn't gone on it for a few days and thought I need to check in and see if anyone else is feeling the same way. You are. So I'll assume we're "normal" and things will keep getting better.

Burning feeling
Thanks Ladies, I was beginning to think that I was the only one feeling like this. Yesterday was a little better day for me. But I am glad to see that I am not alone in feeling this way and that it seems to be normal.

sunburn feeling
I felt like I had a sunburn under my skin instead of on top. I used ice and that helped a lot. I just moved it around and had it wrapped in a dish towel so I wouldn't damage the skin. I was numb too, but still had the burning sensation.
I just figured it was from the TT where they separated my skin from the muscle up to my rib cage, and then did some lipo up there. The whole area from my pelvis to my rib cage felt sunburned. It did go away after about a month.
You are two weeks post op-things start to itch, and get uncomfortable sometimes when healing. Nerve endings start to "wake up" or reattach, so I think I was more uncomfortable then than right away after surgery.
Of course, if it gets red, or hot, or worse, see your doctor.

Burning feeling
llocke,
I just talked to my DR about that pulling sensation you are talking about. I will be 4 weeks on Thursday and it is still driving me nuts. He suggested I try walking some more during the day and to give it some more time. I had a bummer of a weekend after having a decent 3 day stretch. I'm really bummed out and would just like to be comfortable and stand up straight, not to mention having the stamina to go and do a little shopping. Thankfully I did a LOT before surgery, but I still need to do a few things. Thanks for letting me vent! I hope the pulling gets better for you.

Burning tight sticthes!
I was so glad to read this thread tonight! I have been going out of my mind just wanting to feel better already! I am almost 4 weeks post op and given how I felt the first week, I really shouldn't complain. But there is such a tight, burning soreness around my stitches (had a & p repair with my VH and she repaired the outter skin around the vagina as well to tighten up the whole area.).
I went in to see her a few days ago and pointed out the sorest areas. She clipped two suture knots from the spots where most of the pain was, but I can't say that it helped much. She said that the skin tends to heal faster than the stitches disolve and they can be uncomfotable. I can feel the stitching just under the skin in the area of the discomfort, so I know it is the stiches. I guess I would like to know how much longer it will take for them to dissolve, and if there is anything to help along the process. I have done everything mentioned above. Heat, ice, ointments, you name it. They are inside the skin so there is really nothing that I can put directly on them.
Thanks for listening and it was just good to hear that I'm not alone!

Burning feeling
Walking really, really helps that burning sensation under the skin. If you are having trouble getting your strength back, walk 5 minutes out from your home and 5 minutes back. Do the same the next day. On day three, walk 10 minutes out and 10 minutes back, same on day four. Then on day 5, walk 15 minutes out and 15 back...pretty soon you are able to walk 1/2 hour each day and that burning/tight feeling really does get better. Another thing that helps are those Thermacare heating strips. Use either one designed for menstrual pain or those that are for your back. They last up to eight hours and ease the tightness...you can find them at any drug store or Target...
Hang tough!

Burning feeling
Thank you! I have only been out walking twice, but over did it both times and spent a day or two really throbbing and sore afterwards. I wll start slow and use the heat as well. It's so great to have this kind of support, I appreciate it!
Thanks for the advice!

Ouch
I am sorry you are feeling that pain. My gyn told me that he used a type of dissolving stitch on the posterior repair in the vaginal wall that takes up to 4 months to dissolve. He said he wanted that area to be extra strong. I can't say that I ever felt what you are feeling though, so I do feel bad for you. I really think around week 4 was the worst, then things got better from there. I think the swelling goes down after that in the rectocele repairs and takes some of the pressure off.
