new to board with lots of questions...

Hi. My name is Lynda I'm 32 and don't have any living children. After our daughter Hannah was born (at 22 weeks) in March 2000, I was diagnosed with placenta increta, AND precreta. I had a laproscopy and the doctor said my "uterus was a mess" and that he would have to do major surgery. I have been reading on the sight and don't know what all the abbreviations mean. I have the "option" of having my entire uterus removed (but keeping my cervix and ovaries) or having about 2/3 of my uterus removed. I am hoping to connect with others who may be or have gone through a similar situation. I am told this is a very rare diagnosis and a highly uncommon surgery. This doc is a fertility specialist and he said if it was his wife he would "take it all out". Which brings me to the second part of my question(s). I am scheduled for surgery on Feb 26th and am not in great physical shape since I was really sick after Hannah and have had so many procedures since that i have not ever felt back to normal. My dr. is making me take a ton of iron (I'm donating my own blood for the surgery) but other than that has no specific advice. Does any one have any suggestions of what to do to be optimally prepared (physically &/or mentally)? Thanks for letting me vent , this is the most dificult decision i have ever been faced with in my life and want to be armed with as much information as possible. Sincerely, Lynda

So Sorry

Lynda - I am so sorry for your loss. I do not have your situation as I am facing possible hysto for other reasons. However, I do not think you should have the surgery until YOU feel you have regained your health back. It is you who will have to recover from it. You also need to eat healthy and excerise - it really dones a world of good. Make sure you are mentally prepared as well. You have gone through a lot and will need emotional support both before and after. Possibly even counselling would be helpful.

Best Wishes,

Pamela
