One week post op (for LIW)

I know there are so many questions before surgery, nerves are bad, anxious, etc...

I am at one week post op from my TVH and feeling pretty darn good. Better than I ever expected.

I was on that TOM really bad when I went in, too..so that helped me.

I am spotting lightly...not much at all, and NO pain. I know not everyone is the same..but this is not what I expected at all..it is BETTER.

The waiting was the worst part for me all around...I was so nervous. I did use pain meds for the first 4 days or so and am now down to about 1 Aleve a night.

YOu may feel "pressure" down there, I think it is my vagninal cuff (my uterus and cervix were removed), but it is okay. At least it isn't pain.

You'll all do just fine. I am glad we are ALL here together to help one another, and I am glad to be able to TRY to help some of you out. I know there aren't all that many "positive" Post Op posts here, most just post on the "Post Op" thread.

I am thinking of you all and wish you so much luck with your surgery/recovery!!!!!! Thanks for being HysterSisters to me!!!!!! YOu are all such a big part of what helps me daily.

Thanks for taking the time to tell of what you experienced and for the words of encouragement. I know I for one need it.
Am getting jittery now, with only 3 days to go

Look forward to your posts on the post op board. Give us updates, o.k?

One week post op (for LIW)

You guys are just wonderful.... I am going in on Wednesday so I have one more day to wait for my TAH - I was very very nervous and frightened two weeks ago when my gyn told me I had to get this done asap, but now I actually feel much calmer, thanks to all the good advice on this board and the wonderful women who are writing about their experiences. It feels weird ro be going into the hospital for surgery when I feel great and have no pain, but I have hyplasia with atypia and do not relish the thought of getting cancer if I neglect it and don't do this. I just want to get it over with so I can come home, kiss my Corgi puppy when I walk in the door, walk around the house for exercise, sleep, watch movies and read. The only thing I am not looking forward to is the pain, the constipation, and the incision itself. Yea, I'm a wimp! Good luck to everyone who is going in this week. See you on the post-op board soon!!

Marla Joy,

I have to be at the "castle" at 9 a.m. on Thurs., but the surgery isn't til 11:00. I'll look for your posts in the post op forum to see how you're doin'.

That's great Love Dog, that you recovered so quickly. Hey, a trip to Hawaii would be a great incentive to heal real fast!

I think having the abdominal is going to be the thing that slows me down a little. That's the only thing I regret, that I didn't do this sooner when my uterus was still small enough and things weren't so complicated. Probably then I would have been able to have a TVH instead .

Thanks again Shelly. Continue to heal well, and all of you enjoy the new you!

Hello Marilyn,

You musta posted while I was getting mine ready, cause I didn't see yours at first.

I agree, these boards are so helpful and I am so glad I found this site. It has really been a haven of support and information.

You're having a TAH too, I see. Well, one thing I know we will need to be careful of is to keep the incision dry. That's the advice I've heard over and over again, here and from others I have met that have had it.

Well, see ya soon, when we will all be new princesses

Hi Rosalie,

Yea I am not too thrilled about the incision - I am such a wimp that I don't think I am even going to be able to look at it until it is halfway healed. I can't wait til it is next week at this time, and I have some knowledge of what I am going to feel like! Thank goodness we only have to do this ONCE!!! Good luck to you

I still don't like a long car ride, cannot be on my feet too long, etc...but the pain is not at all like I thought it would be.

Everyone is different. I was just trying to let you all know that most of us are all worked up before surgery and it isn't as bad as what we think it will be. I Hope it works out that way for all of you.

I look forward to reading your return posts after your surgeries!!!!

GOOD LUCK to you all.

Shelly, Thanks for the reality check. I am going in tomorrow morning and just took a second out of my frantic cleaning and organizing to read some messages on this board. I find that whenever my anxiety gets the best of me, sitting down and reading what some of the other women on this board have to say really calms me down. I am looking forward to laying back and thinking 'gee, this isn't as bad as I thought it would be'.....
Of course, at this moment I am expecting the worst (but hoping for the best) Take care everyone.....back to my cleaning!!!
