I don't understand

Why do people feel compelled to LEAVE?!

I don't post all that often, I save it for when I actually have something valuable to contribute or if I have a new concern (and I'm at 5 1/2 months post-op and STILL have questions and concerns)!

You aren't completely healed until at least a year out! That being said, what about sticking around and helping people who are newly post-op - just as you got help!!

I don't even visit daily here - BUT I do like to keep in touch - coz you just never know, ya know?!

Your experience and advice could save the day of a fellow post-op (or pre-op for that matter)!

I'll never beg anyone to stay, but do ask that in the future, you consider leaving, think about those that gave you advice, what if they had all left too?? Who'd have been here to help you??? I always live by the rule: "Pay It Forward"! Help others as you've been helped...

and if you still feel the urge to leave....do so

thanks for letting me ramble!

I don't understand

I've lurked at this site since October and finally joined after my hysterectomy in November. It has been invaluable to me. Now after going through the procedure, I now have some experience that the Ladies in Waiting could use, so tonight I actually replied to a couple of posts. You will continue to see me. Thank you for your honest opinions.

Take Care!

I don't understand

Hi LadyDemi!
Well I for one, am someone you are stuck with the for the next little while..I will be here until May, and probably even past then... I go back to school and wont be able to be on here forever then.... I think people go back to real life, and dont think they have anything to add. I dont find myself as helpful as I want to be, cuz half the time, I just dont know what to say to some of these women.... Here for hugs always tho....

I don't understand

Don't knock the s Kat..... a great number of the replies here are simply "I don't know what to say, but here's a hug" -- what helps is the sense of feeling that there is someone who understands and who is prepared to sympathise-- a lot of women here simply need one or two minutes where they have someone who is really listening to what is upsetting them.

A lot of women pop in after they have recovered, and it is those who keep coming back either regularly or once in a while that keep this site going.

Some women become crown jewels and support the site financial, which is lovely - others can't afford to and "pay it back" through the kindness of their replies to others - some manage both --- what is important is that most women find some way to give back the help they received.

One of the greatest "heartwarmers" about being here regularly is KNOWING that you have helped someone else. ---'cause you've been there and know what it is all about.

I don't understand

I am a year and a half post op and still visit this board almost daily. I find myself needing advice and support as well as being able to offer advice and support to others.

I agree with all the ladies!!

I feel like I have been here forever seeing ladies come and go. And you know what?? I have been on H.S. 8 months now and I learn something new everyday... so I know we ladies can help others.

I can think of times I have been on in the evening when someone posts a forum and I just know that they are happy someone took the time to reply.

So...ladies...keep ALL your great posts coming. Every one of them matters!!

Best wishes all,

Mary

I don't understand

I once tried to leave, but it didn't take. A few months back, I had reached a very busy time in my life with working, going to school for my Master's degree, and trying to take care of my mom, who has Alzheimers. I didn't want anyone to think I had just dropped off the earth, so I said goodbye too.

I was so busy for weeks afterwards, that I didn't have time to sign back on, but as things got less busy, I found myself being drawn back.

I will admit that I am addicted to this site. And no, I don't want to go through a 12-step program to become unaddicted!

I have met so many wonderful, wonderful ladies here. When I had my surgery, I would never have made it through without the outpouring of advice, support, and hugs I received. And though that was 2 1/2 years ago, I'm still here, trying to repay in some small way a little of what I received then.

Granted there may come a time when I'll move on, but I doubt it will happen anytime soon!

s to all my sisters,

Lisa

I agree completely with this post. I have derived so much wisdom from this site, and it will be my pleasure to pay it forward by continuing to stop by. You have done it for me!
