Illness before Surgery

Help,

I am one week from my surgery date and am getting a cold. I ran right out to get some cold remedy that's supposed to help you not become sick or at least shorten it. I'm getting pretty upset by this since I have arranged my life so completely to accomodate this surgery and to see it possibly having to be postponed is my worst nightmare.
Any suggestions?

Illness before Surgery

i am just coming out of my cold. i've been on antibiotics and nyquil since last friday. my surgery is monday. stress will do that. just take care of yourself. rest a lot, sleep a lot and drink drink drink (water, not beer!). all you can do is your best. i have also rearranged my whole life for this window of time. i am terrified i will have a cough before surgery. it's probably not good to worry so much, but it's in my nature. just sleep and have a lot of soup. take care of yourself and watch cartoons (or shows you lke) ...this place is good for support. hang in there. pamper yourself! and try not to worry about what you can't control anyway (if you/we have to postpone, then we'll just have to deal with it.) but we'll be okay. try not to invite more stress. (listen to me, the worst stress case on planet earth.)

Illness before Surgery

My TAH, BSO is on Jan 4 and I woke up with a sinus infection this morning. I have bad allergies, dust, many pollens, my cat, etc. My doctor said I can't take anymore antihystamines until after my surgery, but he is giving me an antibiotic for the infection. It's going to be a miserable 2-1/2 weeks. Has anyone else been told not to take antihystamines?
Thanks,
Mary

Cold Eze or Zicam works wonders if you start it right away. However, call your doctor's office right away and make sure they ok your remedy before you start taking it.

I went into surgery with a cold and since it wasn't in my lungs the surgery was a go. however, coughing and sneezing has not been fun since then. I'm back on cold eze trying to get rid of this thing.

Good Luck to you!! I'm sure everything will go ahead as planned.
