ok, what am i doing wrong?

Any ideas of what's going on? I was diagnosed with grapefruit size fibroid plus smaller ones and have been on Lupron for three months now and last month I was put on Premarin to combat the 24 daily hotflashes that i was experiencing.
I have always been very athletic etc etc and careful about my weight. I exercise 5 days a week, cardio, weights. Anyways, since I went on Lupron, I have packed on 5 pounds. I asked my doc if it could be from the meds, and he said absolotely not, he thought that now since I am feeling better, I'm probably eating more. But my eating or exercing habits haven't changed, only my waist line!
I was wondering if anyone else has gotten pudgier on Lupron or am I eating in my sleep.
Thanks,

lupron

Hello, well let tell you I to have been on lupron this is my third month and the first month in a half I didn't notice a weight change at all. But the hotflashes and insommina were making me nuts. So I was put on a low dose estrogen, and since then in 2 weeks I have gained 5 pounds. So I am convinced that it is the medication making me pack on the pounds. I am scheduled for surgery on the 20 of Jan due to firbroids and endometriosis. Grace

Thanks for letting me know that I am not going crazy about this weight gain. I was contemplating of tying myself to my bed post or paddle locking the fridge.
I guess the million dollar question would be...After surgery, do the extra pounds disappear on their own or are they extra package that we get to lug around?

ok, what am i doing wrong?

I have been on Prometrium (bio-identical progesterone) for 3 months and Provera for 3 months before that and I have gained a very stubborn 5 pounds...it won't budge!
I am trying to get back into an exercise routine and have gone back to Weight Watchers and even on a "good" week, where I stay on program I don't loose an ounce! I already have a weight problem, but this 5 pounds feels like it has expanded my middle and lower abdomen more like 10 or 15!

Taiganoe--is your doctor upset by the weight gain you experienced? I have not been back to my GYN since October, which is great by me...it means I am not flooding/clotting and the Prometrium is working. I just feel so FAT!!!!

I wont speak for all Doctors but all the ones I have encountered have a great belief that Medications DO NOT cause weight gain.
I have been on paxil for several years and always gain alot of weight. I mean like 50 to 60 pounds in a short amount of time. I dont care how much I diet or exercise I cant stop the weight gain and cant get it off.

I can stop the paxil and diet and the weight comes off. My mood gets all out of balance and so back on the paxil I go and back on the weight goes.

When I try to tell the doctor that I think it is the meds causing the weight gain he says "the pill has no calories, it can not cause weight gain"

Now I am not stupid and I know that form some reason the meds are causing something not to function right and therefore my body is not burning off the fat.

Since I have gained 30 lbs since my first surgery on Oct. 19th I have quit taking my paxil and I am praying that the HRT does not cause the same problems.

But I think docs just dont like to admit that the meds could be causing our bodies to fail to react to diet and exercise.

I am hoping we can get my hormones back in balance soon and things will get better for me. I will be praying that you to have sucess with your weight.

weight gain

Hi you are right about the weight gain. Doctors don't like to admit it, but I know its true because I am living proof. I have been doing absolutely nothing different and all of a sudden I start the premartin and in 2 weeks almost 5 pounds. I will be off it in 1 week thought because the lupron will wear off. My surgery is Jan 20 and I am 45. I hope and pray that the dr. will not take the ovaries I do not want to experience the meno symptoms, I can't take it. We'll see what happens. Grace

ok, what am i doing wrong?

Well my doctor told me if I went on lupron or depoprova one of them that it causes weight gain. Now I am having a TAH BSO and I have been having trouble with my weight and I am scared I will gain more weight. I have been on paxil for some time now and If I go off it I have bad panic attacks so I guess one is as bad or worse than the other.
