anyone have recurrence of endo. ca?
Have any of the sisters who had endo. ca. had a recurrence? I don't seem to have seen anything like that, while other kinds of cancer don't seem as easily "cured".
I would appreciate any info from those on-line, even if it's about someone who is no longer coming around the site.

anyone have recurrence of endo. ca?
Dear Esterm:
Although I am only 3 months post radiation. I have been very interested in this question. I would also like to know if anyone has had a reoccurence with regular 3 months checkups can it be caught early and if so, how is it treated if it re-occurs in the vaginal cuff if radiation has already been given. I don't think Chemo is the choice for that type of re-occurence.
Any info would be very helpful because this very questin consumes my thoughts each and every day.

Don't know
I really don't what you girls are talking about, but all I can say is hang in there, if my daughter could hang in there till the end, so can you. I am TammyDW's mom, and I can tell you she hung in there till the end. She even asked for an extra 24 hours, and she got them. All of my love and my prayers for all of you. Love Yolie

Recurrence of endo. ca
Yes, unfortunately I had a recurrence of endo cancer at the vaginal cuff.
Back in June I had a TAH/BSO for Stage 1A endo cancer. At that time my Gyno/Doc told me that the path report showed the best news possible - the cancer was contained in one polyp, high up in the uterus and with the hysterectomy he could "almost call me cured". I was extremely happy. I felt I had dodged a bullet. My six week checkup was also good. I went on to plan the rest of my live.
About 3 weeks ago after I came home from swimming I noticed blood stains on my Tampex ( I put one in because I have some dribbling). The following Tues. I was in my Gyno's office. He said it was granulations, put some silver nitrate on it and said that he had to take a snip for a biopsy "just in case" but thought that the possibility of a recurrence was remote.
Surprise! It turned that the cells in my vaginal cuff were endometrial cancer cells. No one seems to be able to explain to me how these cells got there. The usual explanation (from Dr's, mind you) is that I may never know.
Comforting, isn't it?
Now I'm about to embark on a series of radiation, both external and internal. I really wonder if I'll ever be able to have peace of mind for the rest of my life. anna

I'm another concerned endo cancer sister. My rad onc told me that you cannot get external pelvic radiation again, although if it recurs at the vaginal cuff, you can have internal radiation again.
What's disturbing to me is that all I've seen at online health sites is that once you recur, you only get "paliative" treatment, nothing about going into remission again.
I'm almost done with external radiation for endo ca, but am already worried!

My cancer is different to all of yours, but nontheless, recurrence is forefront in my my mind too. The worries for me are similar really. I had surgery 6 weeks ago but only my ovaries and nodes were removed as my bladder was adhered to my uterus, making hysterectomy too risky. I am now undergoing chemo/radiation and feel like all my treatments are being used now, so if there was a recurrance, what then? It is scary, does anyone know what other treatments can be given should a recurrence happen? It seems silly that some of us are already worrying about recurrance even before the first treatment is finished, but I 'm sure this is a natural reaction, and what we have is a healthy dose of "cancerhead".
We are all in this together, which for me is a wonderful gift, I don't ever feel alone.
 to you all,
Kayla
