Everyone I talk to....

Hello Sisters,

Since Dec. 15th after going to Dr. and him telling me we can wait and watch my fibroids or we can do a hyst I have talked to female family members and co-workers and everyone is telling " well since you had a tubal, just go ahead with the hyst..Its no biggy" mg:

Geeze! Where is the support??? And how is it NOTa big deal?
I just shake my head and walk away.

"Sighs" Seems like the only support I have is my DH. He tells me to do what I think is best and whatevery I decide to do, he will stand by me.

Thank GOD for DH's

Everyone I talk to....

Well, I think I can speak on behalf of all the hyster sisters here and say that you have our support no matter what direction you choose to go!

A hysterectomy is a huge deal, and if someone who is commenting hasn't personally gone through it themselves then they have no right to say anything! And even if they have gone through it, it may have not been a big deal to them but that isn't the way it is for all people!

So, this is for you, your doctor and your husband to discuss. Those three people are your key support. We are your backup. We can give you our 2 cents worth, but you and ONLY you are in control of your decisions!

Do what you and your doctor feels is in the best interest for YOU! Watching and waiting was an option given to me as well as a hysterectomy. After A LOT of thought, research and hyster sister knowledge, I did the total abdominal hysterectomy. It was right for ME and I am doing great almost five weeks post op!

Take your time with your decision. You will be happy you did.

Good luck with it and know that we are here for you anytime!

Hugs,

Sarah

Hi Peaches

Sarah said it all! I also tried the 'watchful waiting' approach for nearly 2 years before I succumbed to a hyst. I was post menopause and I was hoping my fibroids would shrink but they didn't oblige unfortunately.

Take your time making your decision as once you've had the surgery it can't be undone. With me, there came a point where my quality of life was seriously compromised with the constant pelvic and bladder pressure and I'd just had enough. You'll know when you reach that point.

Good luck no matter what decision you make.

Thanks :)

Thank you Sarah and Lynne for your rsupport.

When I told my supervisor about my situation she told me she had TAH and that it wasnt a big deal. Though she wished she had taken her meds when they were given right away but she is fine now. (Keeping in mind this was years ago).
I did research with the help of HysterSisters site and found that there are many ways to have a hyst done. I printed them out and took them to the home office to post them for other women to learn from.

I hope none of them have to go through what WE all are going through on here and if they do, I hope and pray they will come to this site for support as I did.

Again, thank you so very much!!
