6 weeks Post-op - no examination

I had my 6 week post- op appointment yesterday but was not examined, DR just looked at the scar, and I was released to resume all physical activites.

I am just wondering, has this happened with anyone else, or were you examined?

I just got back from my 6 weeks post op. Dr. examed me and poked around to make sure all was healed and okay. Told me to start massaging my scar (scary) She said to knead it like bread. Okay maybe my stomach is a little doughy. Anyway she released me and said come back in July for a regular annual checkup! Looks like I go back to work Monday.

just had my six-week exam on monday and the doctor did a full internal checkup and checked out my stomach from inside/out, etc, as well as checking the scar.
i'm surprised you didn't get an internal at this point -- did you have your cervix removed? if not, perhaps that's why.
hope all is well.

I would not be happy unless I was examined. I think it is so important. If that happened to me..........I'd be on the phone.
Take care,

You bet...I'd be more than on the phone! I don't know what kind of procedures you ladies had but if it was a hysterectomy I think I would be finding a new doctor....at the least having a talk with he or she about why you were not examined more thoroughly.

I was examined because I was still having discharge up until last Sunday. She said my cuff still had about 2 weeks to go and not to have sex until then.
I'm amazed there are doctors out there who would tell you to resume activities without doing an internal exam!! I would call the office back and demand one be done.

I had my almost 6 week exam yesterday too. I was released to go back to work on the 3rd. My doc did an exam and used silver nitrate inside there. Does anyone know what that is for? Also, does anyone still have the bladder issues at this point? She told me this would get better over time but it worries me. Don't want to be wearing depends at 48.

I had my six week check up today to. I had an internal exam and she examined my stomach.

My cuff is not healed and I still have extensive abdominal soreness. I was worried going in, but she said that I was doing much better than she had expected considering the extensive work they'd had to do (I had 3 surgeons working together for 5 hours to remove endo, adhesions, and adneo). She also told me that she and the other surgeons are still talking about my surgery and when they talk about surgeries, mine is now the standard to which they compare the difficulty of all other abdominal surgeries. LOL!! That made me feel better. I was beginning to think I was the biggest baby in the world!

I told her I want to go back to work to keep my mind busy. She reluctantly released me to go back to work part time for the next 4 weeks (starting with a few hours and gradually increasing as I feel better), but wants to see me in 3 weeks to reevaluate if I can go back to work full time after 4 weeks. She said is is entirely possible that I'll be working variations of part time for 8 weeks.

As you can probably guess, sex isn't even on the radar screen yet. But believe me, right now I'd rather be put on the rack than attempt sex.

DH is relieved. He wanted to go with me to tell her there was no way I should be released to return to work or to do house work. I think he is so used to seeing me going 100mph, that he's really been worried about my pain and low energy level. Either that or he just doesn't want to share the new Dyson!
