Cold hands and feet! I'm freezing

Hello Sistas,

Today I went to the internal medicine specialist. He thoroughly reviewed with me all of the medical conditions of everyone in the family, as well as the test results from my labs, which include: total estrogen, FSH, thyroid and sugar. All are well within normal ranges, not even close to the edges.

Then he also asked me what medications I'm taking, which are unremarkable: calcium, iron, multivitamin, B complex, Claritin, Nexium & Estrostep FE which is a b.c.p.). I told him I had photocopied the label from the multivitamin supplement I'm taking, and he asked to see it. The vitamins, which I got at Sam's Club, also have various herbs in them, including ginko biloba, siberian root extract, hesperidian complex, grape seed extract, kelp and other things.

He said that, in many cases, people don't realize that they don't need many of those supplements, and that they can cause undesirable side effects. He's had patients coming in, complaining of various things including memory loss, for example, and when he takes them off of their supplements, they get better and can't believe it.

So he said to stop taking them for a couple of months and see how much better I feel. If I am still hot/cold, then he said I could either come back to him, or see my gyno or my family doctor, whoever I want.

So, while I wish I had some magic pill or potion to report, I guess I don't! Maybe review all of your meds and supplements, including vitamins, with a physician or a pharmacist. Some pharmacists will even do this for free if they're not busy. Just load up everything in a sack and take it in and say, "Hey, can I take all this together?" I think pharmacists are much more knowledgeable about how meds work anyway.

Cold

I thought I was going crazy. It looks like I'm not the only one who has been freezing. I was cold before I had the surgery but now it's 10x worse. I'm either dying of heat or freezing to death. At the moment there is no happy medium. I am Hypothyroid, have been for at least 10 years. My meds seem to be working but it never occured to me that it may be my thyroid.

Good luck everyone.

Hypothyroid

I'm 6 weeks out from my TAH. I am hypothyroid and had my 6 month thyroid check up today. Dr. said my blood work looks great, blook count up to 12, and thyroid good. But, I don't feel so good. I am feeling the same things I felt when I was first diagnosed last year. Heart palpitations, achey joints and muscles, throbbing pulse like sensations. I told him this, and he said to cut out caffeine and see if that helps. I'm wondering if the hysterectomy changed things, but might not show up on simple blood work. Would love to hear from other hypothyroid sisters?
