overweight to start

I am at least 50 lbs overweight. I was wondering if that could be some of my problem as far as my lower abd. It almost always aches. More then I walk around or go anywhere that requires walking.
I was thinking that maybe some of my fat(yes it droops) might be pulling on the inside areas.

I thought about getting a griddle or something but havent found anything I like or that would fit comfortably yet.

Any thoughts on this.

Of course it aches, you are only 2 weeks postop. It is going to ache especially after activity such as walking. I think you are expecting too much too soon.
don't jump ahead, take it day by day. You will be sore for months afterwards at times....it takes a long time to heal. But for right now, the reason it is aching is completely normal.

Of course Marian is right! I'm 4-1/2 weeks post-op, not overweight, and I still really ache--sometimes it feels like not only am I bruised inside, but my innards are trying to push their way out! No matter what our size to begin with, we all have to deal with swelly belly, and that adds to the aching.

Here's to happy healing in 2005!

I'm about 40 pounds overweight also. My MD prescribed a waist support. I had to have it fitted and it is great - really helps. You may want to ask about one. My was by prescription only.

How far out are you?
I might wait a little longer and see what happens. If Im still having trouble in say a couple of weeks I will talk to my doctor about my options. Poss that.

My TAH was on December 13th. I was wearing one, 1 week later, and waited that long only because my MD forgot to give me the RX in the hospital.

I long to be 40 lbs overweight but have about 40 more to lose before I hit that goal. I still ache and it has nothing to do with the belly. It has to do with being stupid and expecting way to much of myself some days. I found when I was 2.5 weeks that it was much better to stay in bed and not do too much of anything. I think 5 weeks was when I really started to get back to 'regular' life and even then it was the light version!

Take it easy Cuddly. Before you know it you will be healed and EXPECTED to get out of bed and live. Enjoy it while you can!!

Hugs

Thanks ladies.
I was only thinking of using it anyway, like when I went out, say for church or something like that.
We will see what the future holds in 2005.

Happy new years everyone.
