Pre-Op mess up

I went to the hospital for my pre-op today....My doctor told me I had to wait until today to go because the maximum number of days before surgery to draw blood, etc., was three days. I get there and there are no pre-op nurses working - the receptionist did not know what to do! My doctor did not know that the pre-op nurses were off for New Year's Eve and will not be back until Monday, Jan. 3rd - the day of my surgery.

Anyway, the receptionist called the doctor on call to ask her my questions...I have a cold and I wanted to know if this would in any way hamper my surgery. The doc said no, as long as I do not have a fever. I also asked about the bacteria wash I am to use the day before and the morning of the surgery - the doc said for me to buy betadine.

I know I am to be on a liquid diet starting tomorrow....Is there anything else I should know, sisters???

THEY CAN DO BLOOD WORK THAT MORNING YOU SHOULD JUST BE THERE 45 MIN EARLIER THAN YOU WERE TOLD. GET SOME REST FINISH UP ANY LAST MINUTE SHOPPING MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR ROOM READY FOR WHEN YOU GET HOME GO GET SOME JUICE. AND TRY TO STAY CALM. YOU HAVE MANY PRAYERS WITH YOU. THE FIRST WEEK IS THE HARDEST.

Wow...what a surprise to get to your pre-op appointment and find out the nurses have the day off. I'm sorry it was messed up! I am glad that the doctor on call was able to answer your questions.

I agree with Jamie...just finish up the last minute things you need to do before Monday, drink fluids and rest! I will say a prayer for you that you are feeling better soon and your surgery is a success! Take care!
