two days till surgery!

My proceedure has been changed from LAVTH to Abdominal incision. Havn't done any research about this swelly belly stuff. How bad is it? What should I expect?

two days till surgery!

Hi,

Swelly belly can occur with any type of hysterectomy procedure, though it is usually more prevalent with an abdominal surgery.

Here's a link to an article in the Post-Op Articles which can explain swelly belly a little better:

two days till surgery!

I had my TAH 10 days ago & I have just a small swelly belly - it is just a bit swollen. I did buy the swelly belly band from this website and it seems to help when I walk & helps "hold everything together". I had a 6+" verticle incision and it really isn't that bad. The first few days were a bit dicey, but after that its a little bit better each day. Good luck & remember the worst part is the anticipation for sure! I'm SO glad I took care of my fibroid problem and look forward to being period freeeee!!!

two days till surgery!

I have to admit I had quite the swelly belly going for several weeks. However, I also had a panniculectomy (kind of like a tt) so there was more going on.

It wasn't painful, but it was uncomfortable sometimes. I had a binder garment the castle sent me home with, and it really gave me great support for several weeks. I didn't get a Swelly Belly band because I knew I was going to have the binder. And for me, having either cold or heat on the belly area was not a good idea because my skin was (and still is) numb near the incision.

Some women have none -- some have lots.
