sexual dysfunction

It's been awhile since I've visited the site but I received an e-mail about this subject. I, too, have had no desire for sex since my surgery. After surgery, I started taking Premarin but I had a stoke 2 months later and the dr told me "no more hormones" As a part of the battery of tests i received after stroke, they checked my thyroid and found it to be normal. Is there any other solution to this problem besides HRT? I also take Paxil and I understand that this can affect libido. Also, I no longer have hot "flashes" but am hot all the time! I live in a cold climate but am sweating all the time.

Thanks,
Judy

Sexual Dysfunction

Hi Judy

There are women who use non-hormone products for various symptoms of menopause, including low or missing libido. Avlimil is one that comes to mind but there are others. You can read more about what women who can't use hormones are trying in our forum called No-Hormone Desert Oasis. Of course you should check with your doctor before trying any supplements.

Also, some anti-depressants can cause problems with libido. Perhaps there is another one which would have less chance of having sexual side effects. Ask you doctor and do keep working with him/her to help you feel your best.

I'm sending s!!
