Doc took me off hormones

What a good sense of humor about not needing a coat to do winter sports. I believe that {trying} to have a positive attitude about our womanly challenges does help somewhat. My heart goes out to the gals when the sweat just "pours off". My flashes are not quite as severe.

I have been off naturally compounded HRT since October 2004. I had a very unusual medical situation in September. The Docs aren't sure if it was a TIA (small stroke) or a migraine. I do not have a history of migraines. The battery of tests I took came up with no conclusive reports.

I had a hysto. in 1998 at age of 38 and switched to natural compounded HRT a couple of years ago.

Since I have been off..hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, and very low libido and vaginal dryness. Thankfully, I have a gem of a husband.

I have taken a blood test for hormone levels, and will be taking a saliva test. My Doc is going to slowly put HRT back in my life, but I'm still not convinced.

Taking mulit-vitamins, flaxseed oil, trying to walk daily, and upping my calcium helps.

Any thoughts on helping with libido? With Valentine's' Day approaching my guy will be very pleased!

Joy!

Doc took me off hormones

Actually I haven't been put on anything yet, but have did major research in this area. I too think when I see my doctor on 2-4, I will get his opinion on natural remedy.
I've always been big into vitamins, minerals, herbs and alternative therapy. And I know my doctor didn't want to take my ovaries but had no choice. He's apologized several times to me for this.
I am natuarally cold blooded so these hot flashes are quite a new experience for me. Nothing like waking 3 times a night to wipe dripping sweat off you. But during the day after I have a flash I end up so cold I can't get warm until my next hot flash.

Doc took me off hormones

As I sit here with sweat dripping on the keyboard (I am waiting for it to short out ) I still really am curious if anyone knows what exactly causes a hot flash. ~Marsha
