Did you or did you not have an internal exam?

Hi!

I went for my last post-op visit yesterday. My gyn didn't do an internal exam. I assumed she would do one but she didn't. She said there's nothing in there for her to see. I had SAH; kept ovaries.

Did you have an internal? Why do you think she didn't do one on me?

God Bless
Joanne

Hi Joanne!

The only internal exam I had post-op was at 6 weeks. Have you had any internal exams since your surgery?

Did you or did you not have an internal exam?

At two weeks, my doctor did an internal exam with his finger to feel around and make sure I wasn't too tender. (I wasn't). At six weeks, he used the spectrum and looked at the whole area to check out the stitches and everything.

Did you or did you not have an internal exam?

Last week, at almost five weeks, I had my post op. I had the internal exam with the spectrum to see how the inside was doing and see how the stitches were doing. I also had the exam with the fingers to make sure that everything inside was ok. That was a little uncomfortable because he pushed against my abdomen and I am still sore. I am glad that it is over. He also swabbed for lab test, I guess.

I am now done until next year when I go for the yearly pap etc. My dr said I still needed to get that done.

You had a SAH - so you still have your cervix? That's why -- there isn't anything different, no stitches or vaginal cuff to check.

Nope I didn't have an internal exam. I had a TAH/BSO with my cervix removed. I was fully prepared to have one but he didn't!!!We just talked about what I could and couldn't do, ect....

Did you or did you not have an internal exam?

I had a SAH and at my 6 week my doctor just did a digital exam, no speculum. She just used her fingers inside me to feel around and make sure that my ovaries were in the right spot and that I didnt' have any cysts or other masses in my abdomen.

When I went back a few months later because of my cyclical bleeding, she did use the speculum.

Take care.

Wow!!

This is the second post that I've replied to where it seems like some of you girls didn't get internal exam.

My first internal exam was last week at four week check. Very painful, and doc said there were tons of internal stitches. He also looked at rectum and bladder repairs and did a digital. OUCH!! I thought it was early because he said nothing inside the vagina until six weeks!! I guess docs get special priviledges.

Now, like I said before and you all better get this and laugh this time---I can't see how anyone would get cleared for sex without the exam.
I'd sure ask my doc why he/she wasn't checking it out.

Our vaginal cuffs are SUPPOSED to be fully healed by 6 weeks..............BUT, the only way to know for certain is to go in there and look. There are always those rare ones that aren't ready, yet!

Did you or did you not have an internal exam?

Hi
I'm glad to hear there are variables here.. I had LAVH/BSO, and major repair work..
I went for a 3 week check up, no internal- I would have protested anyway. and he said he would see me at 3 months for an internal. that he 'wouldn't touch me' till then.. That is when I really woke up and realized just how much work was done and I had a right to be majorly sore!!

I'm 9 weeks today. and feeling pretty darn good, if I do say so myself.. Still have achys, and little pains in the belly, and sitting (even with walking breaks) at work gets me really achy. So what do I do? come home and check on here for the latest posts. Good thinking huh?

I think I'd better call the office though. I was still at my appt. I can't remember what I did with my card!
