jan 25th big day

hello, Jan 25th is the day I am scheduled to have my surgery. My uterus is 16 week preg size. Am only keeping ovaries. I am getting really nervous. I dont know what to expect . I have 4 children 13yrs and younger. Youngest is the only girl. My husband is very understanding. I have had problems for a couple of years now. Very heavy bleeding and clots. I bleed sometimes 12-15 days straight. The pain is terrible. I cant wait for this to all be over with. But am scared at the same time. I work as a cna and emt but it is different when it is someone else. Any advice would be great.

Hi, my date is January 25 too. I'm scheduled for a TAH BSO but I'm seriously contemplating telling them not to take my ovaries. This site is great and has so many answers to so much. Thank you Hyster Sisters!

I worked for years as a ward clerk in an ICU but it's sooooooo different being on the other side of the counter.

One thing I never knew after all those years of working in a hospital is what happens when you go under anesthesia. I had my gall bladder removed in 1999. When the anesthesiologist gave me the anesthesia, I remember counting a little and then, with the blink of an eye, I woke in the recovery room. Because I didn't sense the time passing as you kinda do in normal sleep, with the feeling of falling asleep and dreaming, I felt kind of disoriented in the recovery room and started shaking.

This time, when I have the TAH, I will be prepared for that.

Welcome to this message board and my prayers for a great surgery and recovery to you!!

Hi!

I know you are scared and nervous. It is completely normal. I had the same fears...especially of the 'unknown'. I didn't know what to expect afterwards.

Try to relax and stay focused. I know...that is easier said than done. Try to do something for yourself...take a nice soothing soak in a bubble bath, take a quiet walk alone to think, listen to some of your favorite tunes or maybe even treat yourself to some type of spa treatment. If it is affordable, maybe a massage, facial, manicure or pedicure.

I hope everything goes well for you! Best wishes and take care!

Count me in for the 25th too.....at 6:00 a.m. no less!!

I have to tell you, for some strange reason over the past few days I've had this incredible sense of calmness about me. Now, keep in mind that my brain is still spinning 1,000 mph and I can't seem to concentrate on anything.....but I'm fairly calm.

I have my pre-op on Monday, a massage and a pedicure on Tuesday, cooking and freezing dinners on Wednesday and enough to keep me busy (but not crazy) until "H-Day".

My advice to you rochajess, is to spend some "down" time with the kids. I've been *really* spending time with mine and I've found it to be rather soothing....hmmmmm, who knew they could have that effect???

Also, if you can manage some type of personal pampering (hair, nails, massage, bubblebath) that should be helpful.

closer and closer

thank you for your responses. I have to go tomorrow for my pre op and I am on call for emt wed. and sun and now I cant stop cleaning . I hate leaving my house a mess. but how much can I actually clean. Rearrange and organize. It is driving me nuts. I think it is the nervousness kicking in but I cant just sit here anymore. The 25th better get here real soon.

Sending a big your way that you can find some peace these next few days. Waiting is tough but spend some time here reading everything you can so you feel empowered with knowledge. The more I read about what was going to happen, the more I felt at peace and in control.

If you would, please edit your profile to include your surgery date so we can send you well wishes before your date. Thanks.

Blessings
Judy
