Bad Weekend!
Hi Ladies,
I have to complain a little, I hope you all will understand, also this could be a long post so bear with me. I have been on estratest HS for 14 days tomorrow. When I first started out, I Thought things were going o.k. some of the anxiety I have been having went away for a few days and all of a sudden on friday night I had a terrible anxiety attack and had one on sat. and Sun. I had to take an ativan all three days and I hate to do this. As I sit here totally discouraged and feeling as though this is how my life will be forever, I don't know what to do. I called my DR. Sat. morning and she said to take two estratest hs a day, I started that yesterday and I had a terrible day today. I don't feel that the estratest is working for me or maybe I haven't given it enough time what do you think, any advice would be so much appreciated, I just don't think I'll ever be normal again. I still have hot flashes and they seem to be from my neck up, my ears feel as though they might spontaneously combust any one else have this sensation. Please give me some advive.

Unfortunately hormones are not one size fits all. It can take some time to find what is going to work for you. It may be that Estratest isn't the right fit. For some women there's not enough estrogen and too much testosterone.
You do have other options, so don't despair. For some of us, it can take some trial and error and tweaking to find what is going to work.

Awwww, I'm sorry you aren't feeling well.
I read back through some of your posts and saw that you've been having some ongoing issues with anxiety. Did you ever try the progesterone cream you bought? Progesterone is referred to as the "calming" hormone and some women have good success using it to combat anxiety. It makes sense that if you didn't have anxiety before surgery the cause could be hormonal.
It's worth asking your doctor about adding it. Many of us without a uterus use progesterone and do very well having it as part of our hormone replacement. If you haven't already done so, you can read the three articles about progesterone in this link to the Hormone Article List.
I hope this helps! Keep working on it because it can definitely get better!

Bad Weekend!
Hi:
I had the same problem--the axiety attacks and panic were awful--my gyn got kind of mad at me, acting like I was making it up--but I just couldn't take it. All I did was cry, I couldn't eat, or sleep, or even watch television. After months of switching I finally went to a female gyn who dealt with a compound pharmacist. I thought I was going to be in bed crying for Christmas, but she gave me a cream to rub in on my arm, and I was 75% better by Thanksgiving. Don't let anybody say, it can't be the pills, because it definitely can. Now I'm trying to get off the Ativan (which I had to take because of the Estarest) and I'm down to 1 mg. Soon I hope its none. But, please don't get discouraged--I strongly recommend the compound pharmacy--but everything works differently for everybody. Good luck, we're all pulling for each other!

Bad Weekend!
Snit, I had the same panic attacks taking hormones and I threw in the towel, I figure I can handle the power surges more than anxiety. That was the great thing about menopause, no more anxiety from the estrogen flucuation. I do have a very dry vagina since surgery and I got some progest cream for that area and posted if anybody else has tried it cause I want no symptoms such as anxiety from it, hope you feel better, try to go cold turkey and eat very healthy I bet you would do fine.....Denna
