Called the doctor

Well, after posting, last week, about all kinds of problems, most of them related to the fact that my ovaries seem to have gone on strike, I called my doctor.

I am now almost 5 weeks post op, and the hot flashes, night sweats, dizziness and, since Friday, mild depression, started late last week. Until then, I'd been recovering mostly as expected, hitting several

I called my OB/GYN on Friday morning, but he only called me back on Saturday afternoon, just about when I'd figured he wouldn't call back He insisted that this is probably not a direct consequence of the surgery, since he didn't touch my ovaries. However, he also said that those were menopausal symptoms (DUH!!!) and suggested a herbal product: Black Cohosh.

I got the Black Cohosh yesterday and, hopefully, this will help.

12-14-00 twin!

Dany...

I am so sorry to hear that you are not feeling so great. I have had a couple of days when I have been down in the dumps and don't know why. I don't think it is because I can't have more children...I just think that being a little depressed comes with the territory. Then I think to myself...you have been through years worth of he&*....so from today on..it can only get better. Have you had support from your hubby? I have and I am truly grateful. Even though at times my mood as been less than wonderful!!! I hope your ovaries wake up soon and the black cohosh works wonders for you! Take it easy and remember we are all in this together!! Let us know what happens!!!

I don't know nothin' about Black Cohosh for people, but a lot of horse folks use it on their "marish" mares (who can be downright *mean* for a few days each month), and I've heard wonderful stories of complete turnarounds in attitude. I hope you have good luck with it!

Wow, it's wonderful to know that I share the same meds as... horses do Linda, you are really something else!!! I always enjoy reading your posts

I know that my ovaries can take a while to wake up. However, I have a question: if this horse medicine works, and the symptoms stop or relent enough to barely notice them, how will I know when/if my ovaries wake up? I wouldn't want to be on meds if my ovaries are doing their stuff!!!

Kellbell, I've been feeling good for the most part. I really think that the extreme sadness that sometimes overtakes me has to do with hormones: I'm glad that my childbearing days are over Oh, and my dh has been wonderful :inlove:

So far, after 4 days, I've only noticed a very mild improvement of the symptoms, but I know that natural products can take a while to come to their full effectiveness.

Dany, I kept one ovary. I am four weeks post op and have
not had any symptoms such as hot flashes or depression.
HOWEVER the last two nights my husband has complained
about the house being cold when he got home. Now this is
a man that sleeps with the window open in NH in the winter!
He hangs around the house with barely anything on while
it is usually me that sits on the couch with a blanket
around me because he likes it so cold.
I have to admit that both days I have had on a fleece
zip up nightgown/robe that he had bought me.
But it did "flash" thru my mind that maybe I WAS having
some body changes and did not know it!
This morning I said "is the heat still up?" and he said
he was comfortable.
Do you think HE may be going thru the change?? LOL.

Wilma, thank you for the good wishes. Overall, I must say that things are moving along a lot faser, and healthier, than I figured they would be. It's just little things that are driving me up the

PamH, chances are it's YOU going through the change,

Seriously, your experience is pretty much along the same lines as mine: all of sudden everybody else is complaining of being cold while I say I'm fine, or I'm sweating and everyone else is fine

In my case, it is really FLASHES: I have to wear several layers of clothes, since I keep putting some on and taking some off

Which reminds me: I forgot the Black Cohosh this morning!!!
