I have a prolapse repair question
Hi
My rectocele, enterocele repair is next Tuesday. My gyn did a internal yesterday and said I also have a small cystocele. I was diagnosed with mild stress incontinence from the results of a urodynamic test. The dr. who read it suggested a urethra suspension. I cannot get in to see the urologist any time soon, so my gyn and I opted to go ahead with the repair surgery. I can get the suspension as a outpatient should I ever start leaking, which I never really do at this point. Anyway, I was wondering if I should push for my gyn to fix the cystocele while in there Tuesday? He didn't seem too concerned about it.
MY DH and I attemted intercourse lastnight. The area where the cystocele is was quite uncomfortable. I wonder if this prolapse will just get worst over time like my rectocele did?
Also for any of those who has or had a cystocele. Can it cause you to feel like maybe you are leaking a little? Or make it hard to start a flow of urine? Sometimes I have to really push to start the urine stream.
Thanks for your help
Peggy

I have a prolapse repair question
Hi Peggy Is there a need to rush the surgery? I would probably opt for waiting until I had everyone's opinion and had lined up everyone who needed to be there to get the whole shebang taken care of in one trip to the OR. The idea of a GYN messing about with suspending the urethra makes me a little bit nervous... does your GYN have experience doing that?
I had a cystocele prior to my hyst, in addition to a rectocele and severe uterine prolapse. I did have stress incontinence (I leaked, substantially, when I sneezed, laughed etc.) but did not have trouble urinating.

-Linda

I have a prolapse repair question
Linda
My gyn is not doing the suspension. I opted to not have it done right now. I actually feel like I leak a tiny bit when I have been sitting and stand up. I can feel the cystocele pushing down on top of the rectocele while sitting, then there is a weird sensation there when I stand up.. I think that is when I get that tiny leaking sensation. I don't leak any when I cough or sneeze like you would from stress incontinence. I didn't leak any during coughing or sneezing on the urodynamic testing. That is why I think the results only said I had a mild case.
My rectocele has grown quite large since diagnosed two months ago with a very small one. Now it takes up most of the room in my vagina. With the enterocele and now cystocele I am so uncomfortable most of the time. I have a terrible time having a BM even with splinting. This is why I have opted to go ahead Tuesday with the repairs. I am just hoping my dr. will also fix my cystocele, so hopefully I will never need another vaginal surgery.
My gyn would never attempt a suspension procedure. I am sorry if I worded things wrong.

I have a prolapse repair question
I have asked my dr. a couple times about the possibility of me having a cystocele by the feeling I have. He checked in there at my pre op appt wed. He said I do have a small one. I guess I will call him Monday and see if he plans on repairing it. I never saw him before my hyst, because he was late from delivering a baby. I never got to ask him last minute questions.
I know it won't get smaller on its own and will probably get worst later on if not repaired.
Thanks
Peggy

I have a prolapse repair question
I had my suspension 9 years ago along with my hysterectomy. I didn't leak much, but rather, had a difficult time urinating and emptying my bladder. It was much better after the suspension, but even now after 9 years, I still have a difficult time, especially first thing in the morning when my bladder is very full.
