A Little worried

Hi sisters

Again, I need your input. I had a TAH (kept ovaries) on Dec14th. Since yesterday afternoon, I am passing a pinkish discharge off & on. Is this just disolving stitches or should I be concerned? I have been behaving myself & sticking to docs restrictions (even though it is driving me crazy!). I am not sure what it is that is going on. I have read posts where ladies are passing stitches. I haven't noticed any yet.

I see the surgeon for my 6 week exam on Monday. I will definately be asking him lots of questions & hopefully he'll be giving me the green light on a few things (if you know what I mean ) I'll also be getting my pathology report back at that appointment. I am very nervous about that one...keeping my fingers crossed.

Take care & please keep in touch

Hi Belinda,

If you are very worried about anything, call your doctors office. They will let you know if anything is cause of concern. Pinkish discharge is normal for some women, could be the stitches. I did not have any discharge. I had bought tons of pads for bleeding after my surgery and did not use one! What a waste of money! Everyone is different. If you have bright red, then call your doctor. You have alot of healing to do yet. Take it slow and easy. Good luck with your pathology report.

Hi Debbie

Thanks for the reply. The discharge comes & goes. It isn't a bright red....more of a pinkish color....almost like spotting. I did pick up the phone to call the doctor, then I realized that today is Saturday.

Now there is a storm warning for this area. If we get the high winds & heavy snowfall that they are calling for, I won't be getting to my appointment on Monday. Hopefully, the storm will blow out to sea, and we won't get that nasty weather

Take care & plaese keep in touch

Hi belindamc;
Some spotting is pretty normal several weeks after a hyst. If you soak a pad in an hour you need to be seen by a doctor right away.
Bright pink may be stitches desolving or perhaps you over did a little.
I never saw any stitches come out and never spotted so I can't tell you what that would be like.
I did have some spotting after intercourse the first couple of times. I mentioned it to my doctor and he said it was normal.
Anywho, it is always best to consult your doctor anytime you feel something isn't right. I do believe any bleeding warrants a call just to be sure!

Take care and happy healing!

I had a TAH on Dec. 27 and at about 3 weeks post-op I started to get a pinkish discharge. Same thing on and off for a few days and then it ended. Not sure what it was but I didn't have any unusual pain or discomfort with it and they said I may have some so I didn't worry about it. I guess I'll discuss with my Dr. at my next appointment.
